well , car now has new rear control arms, tie rods, hicas lock bar in , traction rods, new rear bushes, castor rods, adjustable front camber arms and new seat :P wheel alignment being done as we speak so hopefully can go get it in a few mins :D all prepped for highclere this weekend!

Spent a day with Andy.

Took Jamie for a run that night & I think its fair to say he was impressed.

Few last minute things to do and we are all set to go.

yeah, was chatting to jamie yesterday and he said how well your car went!

What's going on with my car, well it's just going onto the hoist so i can fit me new clutch,

remove the Hicas and all the line's, and fainlly fit the new front upper control arm bushes,

might even fit the ajustable rear upper arm's...

could have a bit on... :P

rough figures? your not a forum warrior unless you have hektik ZOMG figures to boast about. Track times mean zilch

stock 26 on what, -5's with supporting mods with track work in mind.... thinking 18-22 psi and 340-380 RWKW's?

this time since it was such short notice i got bridgestone select to do it, the rough alignment my mate did wasnt too far off perfect! next time might try goodyear, heard good things

GTR is currently in the garage undergoing some minor upgrades.

Turbos coming off to be replaced with a pair of new GT2860R -5's with some Tomei Expreme Dumps.

ViPec ECU is in and was running well until I decided it was time for the turbos to go.

New Castor arms up front, camber and traction arms in the rear. Camber arms for the front are currently being fabricated.

While I am doing this figured I may as well throw in a new Gates timing belt kit along with an N1 Water Pump. (Yes it does see a lot of track work so its worth the extra)

So, looking forward to the Highclere Hillclimb on Feb 13th. Should be a good shakedown for it all.

Andy wont have any problems adapting to ViPec... Did you get the plug in V66 or V88? I'd like to hear what Andy has to say about it, as I'm going to need a more comprehensive ECU when I get back.

I heard of a 33 GTR that was tuned there last week, same turbos as mine, put out 460rwkw atw on 24psi.

There is another 33 GTR getting round Hobart as well apparently that put out 440rwkw, think hat was tuned at the same place also.

Thats enough to convince me...

It's not so much the peak numbers that the cars put out, be the motors that last after he's tuned them... He tuned XRATED nearly 6 years ago now... the wot tune was spot on for racing, the stock 15yo bottom end lasted two seasons of racing before I blew it up using too much gass on a 200m skid.

460rwkw from -5's ... must be one hell of a head on it.

Stock 26 with -5's, Tomei Expreme Dumps, Zorst, ViPec ECU, tuned on Premium (not Ultimate) and running a mere 17psi...

Safe, conservative and more than a handful in the wet...

Figures??? Its the times that do the talking. You can have 4 gazillion killerwasps but if you cant put them to good use then they are worthless :P

Unfortunately I blew a hose or something today at the Hillclimb and lost 90% of my killerwasps and couldn't get a run in when the hill finally dried out. Had to sit in the pits and watch while I slipped from 2nd outright all the way to 12th as everybody got good clean runs in on the drying track...

i had such a shit day :domokun: i would of been better of running on foot for the event, bring on collinsvale i say to redeem myself lol

Spot on. Power delivery, reliability and consistancy is they key!

The gods were unkind.

Mine blew a cooler hose off and seeing the pits were a mud bath I wasn't climbing around underneath to put it back on.

Had to watch myself drop from 2nd outright to 12th by the end of the day when the track had dried out and everybody got about 4 - 5 seconds faster. :)

Jamie took out fastest time of the day. Impressing times early on in the wet and then even more so later as the track partially dried so there were mixed conditions on the way up the hill.

MMMMMmmm the skyline gods were unkind.

how did Jaymie go? I think I saw his car on saturday, in the cbd which made me think he didn't attend?

jamie was up there :) he set fastest time of the day and took out the event lol.

Did Andy have much to say about the ViPec? I'd be interested to know what he thought of it.

Times and mph... are the proof. I just do it for the FUN! HA hAH!

From what I can gather, Andy was his usual self and didn't really say much.

He did say that the software was pretty much just another version of the same old stuff.

He did have issues and had to use my laptop instead of his own as there is a very specific sequence that must be followed when installing everything for the first time. If its not done correctly then the wrong USB drivers are installed and the laptop wont connect to the ECU and they are very difficult to uninstall.

Jump on the ViPec website and check out the features for yourself. That and the support offered through the ViPec forums was enough to convince me to go that way.

    • @soviet_merlin Thanks mate!  Nothing too major but will hold me up for a while. I've got lymphomas to get taken off the back of my neck and the middle of my spine which always conjures scary thoughts!  It sounds worse than it is. Yeah great, conjuring more rabbit hole deepening , just what I need! 🤣
    • I'd argue the F50 kit I got is very good value. For ~2k I got the calipers (refurbed condition), adapters, pads, brake lines, rotors, and top hats. I think you'd be pretty hard to get Evo/GTR/350z brembos + the additional hardware for similar money. Used market for a pair of front calipers alone I've seen tend to run anywhere from $1500-2000 depending on condition.    That said, something like a GTR or 350z brembo is a lot easier to adapt to the Silvia.
    • Is there a significant price difference between the Evo/gtr/350z brembos vs the F50? Looks amazing.
    • I was actually being a tightarse at the time LOL... My OCD is tickling me into running a 2nd 8AN Teflon hose all the way down and removing the 2x OEM hardlines. My other side of my brain is telling me to run 2x hardlines front to back (also acts as a fuel cooler, so win win).
    • As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had some trouble with the Silvia's brakes dragging back in 2023. I managed to sort it out then, but the same problem came back to bite me late last year. Just take a look at the picture – I had a feeling the handbrake was acting up again, and I was right. Anyway, I'd been wanting to upgrade to bigger brakes for a while. Not that the Silvia's brakes were bad, but it was more of a "want" than a "need", you know? It was funny, though – at the time, I couldn't find any Evo Brembos, 350Z Brembos, or GTR Brembos for a decent price (of course, tons of them popped up online after I already bought my kit!). I ended up going with an F50 Brembo kit, which came with adapters, brake lines, 330mm rotors, and top hats. The F50 Brembo caliper was used in a few other cars too, like the FPV. I also decided this was the perfect opportunity to ditch the Silvia's ridiculous rear brakes and that awful handbrake (some of you were definitely right about that!). I picked up some R33 calipers and all the necessary bits – rear drums, backing plates, and new hardware to refurbish the calipers. Of course, it wouldn't be a project without a few hiccups. Turns out the brake master cylinder was playing up and basically (to put it simply) keeping the brakes engaged. I had it overhauled, and after some adjustments, everything was working again. The whole process took a while, as you can imagine. To top it off, the front right wheel bearings were shot and needed replacing too. This is a rare occasion where I'm posting an update while it's all still fresh! These pictures were taken just this afternoon.
