Would have thought a gtr would be easier than something with the same power rwd

depends on the setup, im going to go with that around 400kw and up and a GTR will be harder to handle than a RWD in drags apps.

seen many a crashed gtr from new to gtr drivers that come from rwd platforms because of the way the torque split is

Trying to get a GTR with over 400kw out of the hole cleanly can be very difficult...

Alot of it is to do with the clutch. 400kw GTR needs a much bigger clutch with quite a sharp pick up as compared to a rwd, due to the available grip and weight...

With a manual rwd skyline, part of the launch IS wheelspin, the fastest way out of the hole is a perfect ballance of grip v's slip v's fwd movement- the wheelspin is directly controlled via throttle input.

Launching a GTR is the sweet spot between bogging on the line and flurry of awd wheelspin. A GTR will torque steer quite badly if the front wheels spin... fkn scary actually. The best way I can describe it, is feeding the car onto the torqueband.... easy to say, much harder to do.

My car has an OS giken r3c... basically an on/off clutch, thus trying to 'slip' of 'feed' with it is fkn hard enough, then throw in a violent launch/fwd movement and all your leg wants to do it fly back (off the clutch). The difference between a good and a bad launch is about 3mm.

Auto's... well it's the fastest and most consistant way to race almost any car. If I didn't want to drive my GTR on the street (and I'm a purist) I'd throw a AWD big auto under it and run faster and more consistant times.

It still aint easy though.

If you wan't to go fast on the drag strip.... big cubes/boost, auto, slicks, solid diff and a light car.

RWD- launch on th throttle

GTR- Launch on the clutch

Howdy,

Couple of questions. I've got an Nm35 Stagea

Where's the best place to get an immobilizer/alarm installed? Do most of you buy a kit off ebay and then get a place like Hobart Audio to install it? I recently imported the car and it's come with an alarm (and maybe an immobiliser) but my insurer quoted that I needed an 'Australian Standard immobiliser,' which has me worried if it got knocked off.

Also, where's the cheapest place to get a dump and catback installed? I rang up Moonah Mufflers and Carline and the latter seems the cheaper for an install.

Cheers
