From what I can gather, Andy was his usual self and didn't really say much.

He did say that the software was pretty much just another version of the same old stuff.

He did have issues and had to use my laptop instead of his own as there is a very specific sequence that must be followed when installing everything for the first time. If its not done correctly then the wrong USB drivers are installed and the laptop wont connect to the ECU and they are very difficult to uninstall.

Jump on the ViPec website and check out the features for yourself. That and the support offered through the ViPec forums was enough to convince me to go that way.

Thanks for the feedback...

Andy is a pretty serious kind of guy. I seemed to get along with him great. You do really need to have your car sorted before you take it to him, he's just too busiy to stuff around with the crappy little things.

I've spoken to Ray a couple of times now... he's very helpfull and seems really genuine about helping you out. ViPec is at the top of my list, especially as I have a ruzic EM pro II on the way.

From what I've seen, the software is very similar to Link ecu's.

Cheers

If by similar you mean identical in every way, bar the sticker over the top of the link logo on the circuit board, and a price premium... you are correct.

Whats that i hear......

you can buy a link cheaper and they are the same?????

No shit!!!!

Thats probably because they are basically the same thing. :)

There's a whole thread on this... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Pl...l&hl=vi+pec

Plus after talking to a few industry guys, I believe the r&d and hardware that has been put into this product justifies the cost... Plus it's a plug-in.

Alot of ecu choice ends up being influenced by your tuners prefrence. Just wondering what Kutzie thought of it.

Cheers

Haha yep, thats been said before. There's ALOT more capable ECU's out there than capable tuners.

Just bought a fire extinguisher for my r33, where should i mount it for track days? I'll be keeping my rear seat in and my front passenger seat need to be able to move forwards for people to get in the back.

mines mounted on a bracket on the passenger seats mount points, what i plan to do is make a bracket extending off the front passenger seat mounts so it sits in front of the passenger seat  just gotta not be lazy and do it lol

Mine is mounted behind the drivers seat in the footwell.

Put some nutserts through the panel below the rear seat cushion and mounted it there. That way if people sit in the back its behind their feet anyway but still easily accessible if ever needed.

Just gotta be careful where the holes are drilled as there are a lot of looms running up and over in the same spot.

Will try and get a picture of it later tonight and post up.

Took me all of 30mins that night in the garage where it wasnt wet and f*kn muddy.

That really pissed me off. At least if I had broke something I wouldnt have been able to fix it, but being just a hose come off and not being able to put it back on and as such missing out on the best part of the day....

  • 2 weeks later...

Bought a new power window mechanism for my R33 drivers side a few weeks back, got it installed and it failed miserably (fine until it had weight on it going up, then just grinded horribly). Luckily managed to get the existing one un-jammed so it's good for a bit, but sent the replacement back and got another second hand part, just went to install it today and it has the exact same problem as the last one :nyaanyaa: The crappy thing is I'm not even sure it's a different part, the markings on the mechanism seem veeerry familiar.

Other than that she's going beautifully, took her in for a service/check up a few weeks back and no real problems found, had her for over a year now and have had next to no problems (which I wasn't expecting at all).

Actually, speaking of problems... Had some Bstrd key the bonnet of my car a couple of months back, does anyone happen know of someone who can do a cheap (but decent) patch up of the paint on the front? She's standard factory white so I doubt finding the colour would be difficult.

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
    • Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
    • I have to put something here in order to post the photos. From what I could gather there's more enthusiasm for modified cars now than there has been for years. There were probably more younger people there than older (me included lol) which was a good sign.  It did seem like the record least amount of representation of the 90's era hero cars on display though. Like maybe one or two examples of S-chassis Nissans, and maybe 3 or 4 R-chassis. By comparison there were a lot of Civics from that era but in all there were about 10 - 12 EG/EK Civic Type R.  Euro exotics are always there in large numbers, led by Liberty Walk...... say what you will about kids using markers to scribble on a Ferrari F40, it did seem like a stunt to infuriate Ferrari enthusiasts, or Ferrari itself. I wonder if there's something more to it. Either way LBWK have done some heinous things to a Lamborghini Miura this time. They should stop now.
    • Engines and drivelines are not war stoppers for me mate, busted arse bodies and un-obtainium parts and panels are though Both cheap Brumbies I looked at had trashed tubs and a fair bit of rust
