Well after a few interesting weeks of having her gtr of the road and in pieces it is finally all back together and going again with a steady idle just under 1k, all that's left to do now is a few highway runs tomorrow to set the boost controller up...

Old Engine bay shot.

$107/each fitted (in QLD) for 235/45/r17 Achilles Sports (supposed to be very good for the price)

anyone know of anybody in tas who can get deals like that?

(this was from Japanese parts and performance on the gold coast)

Just in the process of sliping the motor back into the R.

then make up a few oil cooler line's,fuel line's, fire thold girl up.

then strip the inside of her out, then off the Chris Tanner @ Performance Fabrication

for a full cage,

Then into the spray booth at Robayne/Optimum coating's for a fresh lick of paint.

quick tune at Pro Auto and back on the road hopfully...

easy way to spend $7-10G's in a few month's!!!

my new pcv valve arrived :D

popped that in and it seems that everything is back to normal (was doing a couple of tiny weird things before)

$23 from launceston nissan, $11 from Amayama :)

Been a while since i've been on here , 34 is 'garaged' at another location atm because lil scum tried to break into it again and stuffed the door locks (which did their job thankfully) . Will fix it up soon enough and sell it on , which i'll be doing with all my cars now , gunna get out of the imports for a while i reckon

hey guys dose anyone know someone that could do a bit of sanding/priming for me? (rear quarter needs the line sanded back into it near the tail lights)

would preferably like it done before Saturday

Cheers

A decent amount of stuff happened with my car over the last few weeks.

Had a knocking noise the other day as I pulled into the driveway, which turned into a horrible rattle/scraping noise the next time I started it. Had my mechanic over and he thought it could be the timing idler/tensioner coming loose, but it turns out it was the harmonic balancer wobbling around and it was rubbing against the engine.

It had eaten out the keystone on the crankshaft and created a lip in front of the timing gear, and because it had arsed up the crank a bit we were worried it may have screwed up the timing gear or it's key stone/area on the crank as well. Ended up pulling it all down and replacing the water pump, crankshaft seal, timing belt (with a full new kit) and a new crank timing gear because we ended up drilling the other one off :P a bit early for the timing service, but meh.

In slightly more awesome news, I got my new QFM AR1M brake pads the other day, just need to get the rotors machined and get them in now :D Also, my car has a few goodies stolen off Veeto's poor car now, the 3.5" exhaust system and the rear strut brace. She's running a lot tighter and louder.

finally after 3 months or so of ben and i tinkering ive got my streeter running sweet. best its run since i got it just in time to go to a new home. haha

ive had a battle as the cause of my problems was multiple sensors. one was just masking the next.

ive always had a thing against selling cars just once you get them sorted but i can see how the frustration can cause people to just want to see the back of a car.

i can now garentee it will go smoothly for the next owner.

    • Is rebuilding it even a thing? Where would the shop find parts for it? I looked at some off these local online stores for my r34 and suprisingly they had brand new aftetmarket ones for $600-800 I think. I guess r32 might be a bit tougher.
    • I remember the days when E85 was priced in according to the $ per km outcome. Sure E85 was about 35% cheaper, but you also lost about 35% range... now it's fked..
    • They do. The pale yellow translucent ones from Japan were .... I dunno. Useless? Whiteline and SuperPro are probably fairly similar. There's bound to be a range of different hardnesses amongst the dozens of options on the market. The simple fact is that the pineapples don't get up inside the bush at all. They just sort of exist in the space between the washer/bracket and the subframe's bush outer tube, and...exert a bit of force between them? Or something like that. I'm sure that with enough provocation, they will simply allow one to move wrt the other.
    • I'm not sure they came in different hardnesses? Going from memory only - I had set them up in the balanced setup. I also have poly bushes, so I have both poly bushes and pineapples. This is what my memory tells me at least. I'll have to take a look under there to be sure. The tramp was so bad that I managed to eject/kill a diff bushing, so those I know are stock. The tramp is bad enough that you are 200% sure you are doing severe damage to the car. It's not just chirping or vibration, it feels like you're hitting a speed hump/kerb 10 times a second. The issue has persisted between subframes! (I went from Hicas to non hicas subframe and replaced every bush a few years ago now) so I'm entirely lost. Every arm is factory.
    • Can recommend the Frenchys kit, been using it 2 years now with no issue, very happy with it.  Only thing for me was upgrading the thermo fan but I am super fussy on cooling.   Also interested in electric AC, partly for boot mount to have a clean bay and partly would love the idea of cooling off the car before i get in. The battery setup to do that might be tricky / expensive though.  Found this an interesting watch.
