Guilt-Toy
Have upgraded more bits n pieces. Got a Plazmaman Plenum and a 600x300x100 Intercooler Q45 AFM (Huge sucker) GCG said that turbo should come on boost at 3500 rpm - does anyone here have a RB30DET with the GT3540 ? Butters
I have an SR20 with gt3540R with .82 rear makes 1 bar about 4600 obviously this not an rb30 but with 2 more cyclinders and 1 litre more then my sr20 you would expect it to spool 1 bar a good 1000 rpm earlier. Thats what i wanted to hear =) your using standard manifold though ?? Im using a cheapo stainless steel top mount. Will that make it come on later ? Gts-t
It will make it come on earlier <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wouldnt you expect the longer runners on the high mount compared to the short ones on the stocker to make the boost come on a bit later if anything? Wouldnt it be more laggy because the air has a longer way to travel ? Bl4cK32
It wouldnt be laggier, if anything it would drop backpressure, increasing the top end capabilites Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/91272-my-turbo-upgrade-what-power-should-it-make/page/2/#findComment-1894317 Share on other sites

Shaun
Because the next stage for mods would be Forgies / Cams / Rods and much more boost. This turbo has the .82 housing so its not the 700hp version of the GT3540 right ? wouldnt the 1.06 be the 700hp version ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ^^^^This is what GCG told me when buying my turbo. 700hp with the 1.06 and about 600hp with the 0.82. I would have thought that a 0.82 on a 3 litre would have been ok, if not under spec'd. I dont have first hand experience with 3 litres though; SK does. Sounds great and after some MAJOR issues with crappy made ex manifolds its all up and running. Should get it tuned properly in the next couple of weeks.
