Hey guys

i been lookin at a few GTS-T R32 skylines and a few of the cars i have seen have about 70,000kms for a 92 and 93 model....which is kinda iffy :s

wat are ur opinions on the amount of k's ????

is it possible that they do REALLY have 70,000kms or is it a load of shit ?????

the engine bay looks nice and clean doesnt seem like its gone thru hell......

they havnt been drivin in AUS yet, straight of the boat.....

any opinions wuld b great.....

from what ive read on here, it is the opinion of the majority of members here that 99% of imports have wound back odometers...

the 1's that have low kms with log books, is usually because they've sat around waiting for repairs after accidents etc

well I suppose it's POSSIBLE.... but it's highly unlikley that the k's are real. It seems that alot of the 32's seem to have the magical 80's or 90's... look at the condition of the interior, the condition of the leather on the brake and gearstickboots and steering wheel. But if they are in Aus, even better go and seem them for yourself, test drive..

Lads if they are older than 5 years they have been wound back

2 ways apparently ( i no importers)

1 with a pin

you can c a line in the middle of the number

2 dash out and a cordless drill wind it back

2 is harder to do and i was told it was cosidered professonal

Its the new skyline buyers that F^&k us around

over 100000 ks and you cant sell it yet we pay heeps more from dodgy import places (wonting to make as much as they can out of us)

they wind there clocks back private guys dont and we generally look after our cars

I would never trust ANY odometer, its a much surer bet to simply look at the overall condition of the car (the interior, under the bonnet and at the body itself).

Anyway, a thrashed 50 000km car is no way better than a well-looked after 150 000km car.

Taking the dash out to wind back the odometer is far from a professionals job. In fact anyone doing such a thing is hardly a professional anything and is more properly labeled a crook and a con-man.

The whole operation to take out and wind back an odometer for most cars is a 20 minute job, about an hour if youve never done it before.

All imports with "hard to believe" or "remarkably low" kms have had their ODO's wound back its a fact of life. It doesnt matter what you think of the interior condition or that its really clean or that your car is special - you are only kidding yourself.

i recently purchased a R33 GTS-t sedan through the auctions. it came over with 76,000kms on the clock and a FULL service history from a Nissan dealer in Japan showing dates and KMs on clock when services were done. My car was absolutely immaculate with only a minor scratch on the roof. It was a 1 owner and unbelievably i bought it with almost 12mths of Jap rego still on it!

there was no wear on the usual interior parts and the engine bay was very clean and had been serviced only 3000kms before i got it. I was also lucky enough to get a car with almost a full tank of fuel.

So some odometer readings are genuine, but I would agree that they are few and far between. If your in Perth I can recommend a very genuine importer of Skylines for you...

The odometer is never actually wound back, its wound foward untill it clicks back to 000000 and then you set it to the bullshit km. The drill is the quickest way to do it if your not a pro.
