Hey Guys,

As previously stated, my Stagea is looking for a new home :( The decision has come about from me throwing some new ideas around and the costs of a manual conversion etc. My next car is either going to be a S2 Manual Stagea or an R34 GTT ;) So, just a few questions.....

1. What should I be advertising the car for? (approx. value)

2. Do you know anyone who wants a mint Stagea?

3. Oppinions on an R34 GTT vs Manual S2 Stagea

Thanks Guys, Much appreciated

Cheers,

Chris

Totally different cars really

Questions to ask yourself

Will you have issues with cops? -> No = Stagea

Do you want a "sports" car? -> Yes = R34 GTT

Can you be screwed with rare(ish) parts? -> No = R34 GTT

Need space for stuff? -> Yes = Stagea

Personally, id get the GTT, but i actually need my wagon for a wagon and a GTT would just be too impractical.

Yeah thanks Alex, I agree with most of the points you made there  But either way, I want a manual ;)

Do you think 22 grand would be unreasonable for this car? :(

keep the comments coming guys

Well, i paid 19 for my dead stock stagea and i thought that was OK. If i wasnt lazy, would have flown up to QLD and gotten one cheaper...

It seems these days though that stageas cant fetch the price that they used to. I would say ~18-20 just because of the wheels

I beleive in converting my car to manual, will keep its value a bit better when compared to the other S1 Stageas...but...i dont plan to sell...yet :(

Really, Chris? And to think our community was growing, yet you're possibly choosing to leave us?

Go The S-2, you know you want to!!!

C'mon, if you're going to be unique, you might as well go the whole hog, that's why I snapped up my Stagea: because it was a manual Series 1!!!

If you're really having trouble deciding, I'd go with Alex's advice - weigh up the pros and cons of each car and how it will fit into your life, and decide from there.

Cheers and good luck with your choice,

Nick T.

I'm sorry Nick  But yeah, either an S2 or a GTT so all hope isnt lost yet... Just having a look on carpoint and drive etc. The cheapest Stagea on there was like $19 990... So maybe $22 isnt such a bad price? Remember, the car already has, 18inch rims, exhaust, coilovers, TV and a DVD player :D Keep the opinions coming guys....

Cheers,

Chris

Does it have all the factory options such as leather, sunroofs, cargo barrier etc? i paid $18k for mine and it has all those, plus a a few little extras i haven't seen on another stagea. if i was going to sell mine now though i'd look for about $22k as i've spent about $8k on similar upgrades to yours, so i think it's a good starting price. my only downfall is the 150,000km i've run up on it

I hit the same wall as you have though. i've been driving around my brothers skyline (which i used to own) and i want a manual again with a bit of stick. since i've finished uni i think i can afford to go one step further and i'm looking into an Autech this time next year. i was also contemplating an R34 GTT, but i'd miss the space of the wagon too much i think. i use it so much now without thinking

You'll (might) find it hard to sell at 22k - not enough people know about the Stagea and how good it really is. I got mine 3months ago in Qld for under 18k.

Fact is in todays 2ndhand car market you just dont get what you think it is worth... ie, you think 22k, market probably says 10% less than that. Options are to sell the mags, etc.

Hmm, given that I have a r34 GTT and manual s2 stagea, maybe I should comment...

Different cars for different purposes... I've now got the stagea because of the family and the ability to carry stuff. Originally I'd got the 4 door GTT for the same reason (much more usefull than the 2 door, and they are on the same frame + driveline etc, so everything else is the same!) However, I found that by the time I but a big pusher in the boot, and a few people in the back, we had run out of room...

So for space, the stagea.

But the GTT is 200kg lighter, has much bigger brakes etc, and just seems to cruise better.. :-) And being 4 door, doesn't get much cop attention either..

So a hard call, ie if you need space get the stagea, if you only normally drive with one other person and don't carry much, get the R34... We have ended up using the stagea so much (hardly ever get out by myself anymore) I'm going to sell the R34 - I'll miss it, but it just doesn't fit the family as well as the stagea... :-(

Ian

there just doesnt seem to be a market for stageas... the same ones have been on the market for a very long time..... it seems regardless of price.. there just isnt enough common knowledge about them.......

honestly tho.. a fair price for a s1 stagea .. would be between 16-18k.....

i did notice a blue s2 stagea manual in richmond yesterday morning.... ugly car that one.....

Have you thought of selling it off stock?? considering thats how you'll basically get it as it'll need to be like this to clear compliance!!

Sell it for say $18-19K stock, then sell the exhaust, coilovers and rims seperately, or keep them for your next car!! We all know mods don't really increase the price at all. And l personally reckon a set of coilovers, an exhaust and those rims would be snapped up damn quick by members here!!! (hell if u have clear lights in your front bar l'd take them and send u my orange ones and some $$$!!!)

TV & DVD player ..... don't count on getting it. Been speaking to quiet a few shipping companies lately (as prolly personally importing the gf a MX5 in after xmas) and it seems these things (plus other bolt on parts in engine bays) are getting nicked left right and centre off all shipping company's.

Edit: as for my choice, S2 manual Stagea. The less l see of them, the more and more l like them, and glad l got one!! :O

That would have been mine, as I'm sure you know.. :-)

Sheeesh, after having a S2 R33 Gtst and an R33 GTR, as much as I loved them getting into a car with room that you can park places and not be bothered by people and idiots trying to prove themselves to you... Its so nice.

And its a bit of a challenge owning a stagea with mods etc, I like it and I like having something different.

(And, heaven forbid, my wife actually likes it.... never had that before!)

(And, heaven forbid, my wife actually likes it.... never had that before!)

My wife likes the stagea and the r34, then again she has like all the fast cars I have owned and doesn't care what I spend on a car...;).

And before you all ask, all her sisters are married and she isn't planning (that I know of) to leave me anytime soon.. :D

Thanks for the opinions guys....

I like the idea of selling the car stock....But I dont have a set of standard suspension - the ones I'm using are Sk's

I dont have a stocko exhaust....The one I'm using is owned by the complaince workshop

;) But I'm sure I could find ways around that. Quite frankly, I dont care how I sell it, as long as I end up with 22 Grand in the bank, the car will stay with me

But honestly, at my age, I dont really need the space of the Stagea. But I just want a manual :D Oh well, all will be told when I try to sell Mr Stagea

Ok, so heres what Im thinking of doing now...

Probably going for the 'stock' approach...

Ok, so the aftermarket parts I have are, the Coilovers, 18inch Mags, and an exhaust. Lemme know your opinion on the prices I should sell these items for...

Having a chat to a few of my mates and they say to sell the Rims for around $1500 or so, the coilovers for $1000 or less, and the exhaust for around $400-$500 or so. What do you think? :P And then of course, having a crack at selling the car for around $19000. Do you think it will sell for $19000? Remember that the car only has 64 000 kms. Tell me what your thoughts are....

Thanks Guys

Cheers,

Chris :D
