What Do You Guys Think Of The New Fpv Bf Range?

Recommended Posts

They dont look much different from the BA falcons but subtle little changes make them look more aggressive.

Personally I reckon the Fords look alot better than Holdens these days. (and I'm a holden fan!)

What do you guys think of these Aussie designed and engineered masterpieces? :P

Anyway here are the pics: (if you havent seen them already)

I think the F6 Typhoon + ZF Six Speed Auto transmission may possibly be the best Australian built car ever, on paper at least. A real transmission with a brilliant engine and balanced chassis, what more could you want?

Considering that motoring journos have always complained that getting any powerful Australian manual car off the line cleanly is tough, and that the T56 manyal is rather agricultural, I have a feeling it may be quicker than the manual in all real world situations. Same goes for Falcon GT Auto.

I have yet to drive one, so my final conclusion will have to wait.

Holden are bloody lazy. I loved holden until ford released the XR6 Turbo. Thats when the respect came from. Holden UNTIL TODAY still hasnt created a rival turbo car to compete against the XR6T.

another huge ford fan here. not bad, although, i think ford, in the current automotive climate (ie, coupes, turbo's and drivability being issues ppl look at nowaday's rather than pure cubic inches), would do well to release a cutdown 2 door, based on the falcon chassis (just like the monaro from holden), with the 4L turbo 6, and awd.

did someone say Ford GTR? :P

I think they're real nice

I'd seriously consider a BF XR6T in the future if I find myself looking for a new car

Though I'd see if I can get one with BA2 wheels, I'm not much of a fan of the BF XR6 wheels.

Holden are the ones concerntrating on size...ford is just squeezing power out of smaller engines.

the BAs have 5.4 litres...HSV's are 6 litre now

A few of my mates were involved in the final on-road testing of the BFs a month or so ago. All reports from them have been positive. I think they're pretty good.

Ive got a vid of "some guy" doing a 0-230km/h run in the BF GT-P, its pretty quick. (Apparently theres a 230km/h speed limiter) But of coarse Im not going to show anyone, for legal reasons ;-)

two things wrong with your post:

A new Ford comes with warranty... the cars you mentioned dont.

And your GF should be spending things on you buddy  :)

you cannot tell people about that, and then not show it

just blur out license plates/faces etc

dont be a tight arse

    • Pretty simple question. I was about to put the transmission back in and thought I pretty much had it lined up when I noticed it seems like the pressure plate isn't flat. I was pretty careful when undoing the bolts both during initial disassembly for cleaning and when torquing them up for installation so this is pretty discouraging. I'm not sure if I accidentally bumped the pressure plate with the input shaft and bent it somehow or if it just showed up this way. Is it possible that there's just something obvious I'm not doing correctly? I'm pretty sure I was extremely careful to make sure the friction discs were seated correctly in the hub, everything lined up, flywheel torqued according to sequence, the little springs all sitting correctly in their seats, etc.  What's the play here? Do I jump straight to a new pressure plate?
    • OK. I can see that being the case. But if you live in the land of "only switching between 4.08, 4.11, 4.36" like most Skyliners, then you never encounter it. Now I perhaps understand why the crownwheel is thicker on some of the smaller numerical ratio diffs. The two stubs being the same (unequal) lengths and just swapped side to side between the different cases is a new one to me. I'm hating Nissan R200s more than ever now.
    • Reason I say this is I have seen broken ones, in drift, drag and even behind a stock Z. I do appreciate most of the time its the synchro's that go.   Trouble with quoting HP is it doesn't really say how strong the box is.  I've not seen many CD00X box's make it past a mid 9(150mph) I have seen about a stock R33 RB25 box's run a 9 too, they all go boom at some point though.   Another clue is they make gearsets for CD00X box's too, wouldn't be a market if they didn't break or have a limit people are going past.   I totally agree it is a strong box, just have to weigh up the true total cost of the conversion vs rebuilding with a good gearset.
    • What makes you say CD009 boxes are not as strong as you would think? I've always been told the last revision (CD00A) is good for 1000whp and I have no issue's believing it when comparing one side by side with an RB25 box. Makes them look tiny.
    • I picked up an open Center with shafts. I was told the Open shafts will fit a mechanical LSD and looking at them. I think they will work. Will update
