whats everyones enjoyed food that they like to eat , anything interesting and wierd you have tried.

i cant get enough of unagi and karage-don and no-misou on occasion with QP and tonkatsu, and

oh and wagyu beef is great {kobe style aussie beef here in aus}

and drinks mmmm

still havent tried kirin our work just got some yebis dark and light and soon sellin kirin ,we've had asahi and sapporo for to long not that im complaining i quite like asahi

yakiniku and bikuri donkey is where its at.

I also miss Kushinbo which is a convenience store on Shikoku that also serves cheap albento box meals, the chicken nanban is kickarse. Osaka`s chicken nanban is just wrong (yes at all 9,000,000 albento shops) :)

for desert Rikuro cheesechake is 500 yen for a whole cake and so fresh its hot, also ichigo daif*ku is good. Im starting to get hungry now!

that bottled water is incase of an earthquake.. I guess the plasic doesnt hold it enough

streeter: ive been thinking about going to bikuri for a while now .. just never gotten around to it.

Theres lots of good food here. I eat homemade mostnights.. but also at the same theres a lot of food that I dont like.

for example the pasta with the sauce which is made from the black goo stuff octupus / squid or whatever shoots out when it gets scared.

EDIT: just noticed the Bottled water is in a can. :)

EDIT # 2: just noticed gojiras new avatar ... good old nova eh.

Streeter: albento = 'O-Bento'... if I'm not mistaken :) or just 'bento'.

I know it's not very Japanese but I could eat Cream Korokke forever... that and the old classic: Oyako-don! (chicken and egg on rice) Sounds very simple but it's a good'un.

As for drinks, I'm sure Gojira can vouch for the 300 yen pints of Kirin Ichiban shibori at that salaryman place in Umeda :D

i love the natto! had it soooooooo many times in a week. cheap too.

also love moss burger... and all the sweet pastry... the pastry in perth is crap! :D

oh btw, aussie beef cant be wagyu hey....wagyu is japanese beef.... :)

ew ah natto!!!!!! i hate it.

yeh i know wagyu is jap beef but here its called wagyu style much like the famous kobe beef the fat marbles thro the meat and instead of sake fed its very aussie and its beer fed

mm oyak-don also another nice dish

tonight i had a really nice and simple thing but i forgot the name of it , its basically sliced onions , carrot ,prawns and what ever you want cut thinly ,and done tempura mmm crunchy

what is a moss burger?

oops is the fact that I have studied for a total of 2 hours showing? bleh just like the japanese I speak to, you know what I mean :)

I forgot MOS burger... good stuff, just too small and too pricey.

you boys are right, MOS burger kicks the big macs arse. but natto? man that stuff is the most revolting excuse for food in the world. i've heard all the 'good for you body' explanations but its tastes like crap. so does ume boshi, and so does uni.

just my humble opinion.

and correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't no-miso mean brains?

i think he mean no miso like not having miso? im sure he aint eatin brains...

Personally I find traditional Japanese food a bit tame, but what I do enjoy is the huge variety in modernised as well as westernised foods.

Go to the supermarket and you can choose between 30 different ice coffees, 40 different deserts, 50 different types of bread snacks, 60 different types of instant noodles ( though no nice spicy korean or thai) etc. I really enjoy the variety in almost every isle that we dont share in Australia.

Suprisingly you have to go to an international store to find and decent Chinese/Sth East Asian ingredients though, as well as any decent chilli.

Also custard. I love it. Finally I have found a country that enjoys it like I do. Custard donuts, custard muffins, custard buns. Fantastic. :)

Another favourite is the icecream filled waffle you can get in the icecream freezer at most convenience stores. Simple, yet perfectly effective.

If I had to choose a favourtie japanese food it would be the "katsu" restaurants that serve all the various katsu variations (pork/chicken/mince beef/prawn) with the seeds you mash yourself and mix with the sauce. I miss vegetables though, I dont think the endless coleslaw type salad is as nutritious as one would like.

mmm i'm quite fond of the boss coffee and the terriyaki burger at maccas is pretty good. love the shabu-shabu too. or any little ramen bar with good ramen, and maybe some gyoza too.

Hahaha you and Nick are the Coffee BOSSES! I've never met any other ppl that extolled the virtues of Boss can Coffee so much :)

Have you tried Coffee Boy? It's available in very few places (maybe just a Hyogo thing?) but it's the tastiest coffee IMO available in Japan. Go for the strong Ice Coffee blend... ooh lala...

yeh i ment brains, lamb brains we serve it at our resturant, its different and has a very funny texture

likewise i cant stand uni and natto, i mean come on all the jap people at my work like natto but think vegemite is revolting :)

mmm fine roast. or special blend. i didn't try coffee boy. tried plenty of them though. i also like UCC mountain roast. that was quite good.

Another weird thing i noticed in japan. no lemonade? i couldn't get lemonade from any vending machines, even macdonalds? they always have coke (but i don't drink it), or ginger ale, or grape fanta (eww)?

one softdrink i did enjoy there was Mets (i think), sparkling grapfruit juice in a green can. very good stuff.

I've eaten quite a lot of food in Japan and some of the more interesting ones i've had on my plate are:

Live squid sashimi; This you eat straight out of the tank. The squid is alive, then slice alive, then served raw. When you eat the legs they attempt to stick themselves (with the little suckers) to the inside of your mouth. The chefs called this "kiss!!!". Oh yeah they also try and wriggle off your plate and hate when you pour soy sauce on them.

Whale dishes; I've had whale in many different dishes - in a mid sized town called Kochi on the south coast of Shikoku there is a decent sized whale eating community. I had whale sashimi, whale hotpot and whale karage style (deep fried in batter). Whale is a red meat and tastes awesome.

I've also seen horse sashimi but wasn't up for it due to the dodgyness of the restaurant i was in but it seems quite popular.

More normal foods I loved over there were;

- Cold soba noodles (great in the summer)

- Tuna neck (giant tuna the size of small boats are cut up - the neck meat is like a cross between beef and tuna and swordfish)

- Chicken curry rice (for 500 yen you cant go wrong)

- Sea pinapple (some kind of see urchin thing you eat live or steamed)

- Chawanmushi (egg custard with suprises of seafood at the bottom)

I was also a huge fan of eki-bento (take away pre-packaged lunch boxes they sell in train stations) which help on those long shinkansen trips cross country.

The best advice I can give anyone eating in Japan though is to find resteraunts with a bar where you can watch and talk to the chefs (and even drink with them while there on the job in some places) who make your food and you will have the best times.

As for drinks i never got into the million varieties of teas but i did like the Boss coffee, the one that comes in the rainbow can is the best. My girlfriend loves the Soba cha but i cant stand the thought of drinking noodle juice.

    • Thanks mate, yeah I've heard that alot and i am definitely regretting using the 25 Loom now, i have gone through and traced all the plugs from the 20loom and re wired them into the 25 loom, I have currently got Crank, Fuel and accessory's working, just need to finalise the loom and run the wire for the Ignition (Spark) and it should be running, will update if i have any luck.
    • Cheers lad, when I head over there I'll give it a shot.
    • Stock less likely to carry one like that than urethane, but still can, especially if the bolts are not as tight as they should be. If it's making that much noise you should be able to use a hose as a stethoscope> stick one end in your ear, crouch down and wave it around the various possible noise makers and get someone to lift the front end at the guard lip.
    • Broken actuator rod. Could be one of a couple of them broken. Or, it's locked and the central locking actuator is broken/stuck or the actuator rods between it, the lock and the key barrel are jammed or broken similarly. You'll probably need a locksmith/mechanic who is experienced with using slim tools to reach down next to the window glass to manipulate the mechanism. That's assuming that it is not so severely jammed/broken that nothing useful will move.
    • So I've got my R34 GTT it's currently in Japan and I'm not there. I was wondering if any has any tips or ideas of what could be preventing the door from opening. I dont have really any information on it at all since I haven't actually seen the car in person yet.
