I like it. I'll be curious to see what the actual production model turns out like

Well you won't have to wait long. It's being intro'd at this years Tokyo motor show which starts in three days :)

I think that was the production car...

i'm amazed, it's a complete howler. looks neither like one thing nor another. moon faced at the front and angular at the rear. compared to the new aston vantage it's like something out of a yr 10 art class.

like i said in the skyline general discussion forum, it looks like someone drove it slowly into a wall head-on and left it that way. give it two long white teeth and it'd look like one of those flat / round faced ugly bastard sea lion things. maybe a gummy / pt jackson shark?

rear 1/4 window and pillar are classic Skyline, side on it looks ok too. hopefully they'll have sharpened it up with the real thing.

<---Meh - call me a fence sitter. :);)

I"ll wait to see the specs. I can see the influence of 3or4 cars mixed in this - 350z, Rx8 etc and I'd also like to sit in it and touch it.

R ;)

meh, i think its too much like a high end million dollar race car (eg. Pagini Zonda etc....). the GTR is a "poor mans" (this term is used loosely!) Ferrari Enzo, if you ask me. still a great car, in fact, GTR's are an awesome car, but it doesnt have the traditional skyline look. its moved away from the sedan shape styling, which is good, but in this case, they needed to do a little more work......

however, i could grow to like it........ :)

My god, you really thought deeply about it lol.

Anyway, I usually don't like these new facy space-age things.. but this time I'm impressed

i say they should keep the skyline style, if i wanted a 350z id buy one. (well not really but you know what i mean). but im not saying it sucks, ill have to wait and see the specs, and see how it feels, who knows it may be the beez kneez so im put in neutral for now.

well... I did buy a 350Z and I love both. I put a picture of the 350Z next to an R34GTR (two of my favourite cars) mould the two together, make it look a bit more up-market and you have the new GTR.

I personally love it. After recently being jerked around in a big way with my Z I will be going to a different dealership but... where do I sign up for one?

P.S specs in 2 days now :)

350z meets darth vader.....

I dont like 350z's, and really dont like that, is so far from the stylings of the previous models the taillights are the only skyline element left.

R32->r33->r34 was progressive styling changes that all in all worked to a theme.

This thing looks way to space age. This dramatic change in car styling is going on in all marques.

The rear looks ok, i think the boot needs to be lengthened, or the angle of the rear window increased and pushed front ways a touch more, the skylines shouldnt go back to being a hatch.

It needs the squarer skyline stance, lights that run horizontal not vertical at the front, and the lovely open mouth for cooling the FMIC.

But thats just my opinion....

ON a lighter note, the release of a new model pushes previous models price down, come on R34 GTR. But that also means the value of mine will drop to :)

cars like this usually look better in metal than in the picture! i thought the new rex looked ugly back when offcial pics were released first time, but after seening the real thing at the motor show i actually like the looks of it now.

i love it

u complain about styling, look at an r34 gtr and a 2000ish pathfinder, headlight and grille are in the same style yet i dont hear u whinging bout that

get a life fcukhead and wake up to the new car, not the old one that everyone loves

Whats with you Mr. Testosterone? No need to get agro.

I think it will take time to get used to. I think people are right when they say they dont want a "supercar" look. With what I bet will only be a VQ35DE motor.

I think now the Skyline has lost the RB motors for these new VQ jobs it will lose its once feared image. It was always the hero car from japan! The 2.something litre coupe with some turbos thrown on for more grunt... The kind of milk bottle motor that gets banned from racing with the V8's because its too fast.

This thing better be sporting a turbo or i'm not jumping on the band wagon.

I'm liking it so far. Sure it's different but that's progress and moving to the future. I'm sure the same thing has bee said by the Japanese in the past with the skyline.

It does still have the elements of the past, but also remember this is supposed to become a standalone supercar, not a hotted up family sedan like in the past. I love all incarnations of the GT-R, this one included. It would be nice to see the Skyline badge continued on it, but that probably wont happen (outside of Japan anyway).

Just because something is new and improved (hopefully) doesn't mean everyone's gonna love it.

Exhibit A - AU Falcon.

I'm not saying that this is going to be another AU (I bloody well hope not), my point is that not everyone likes a new model.

Most people that don't like the final version initially probably will warm up to it at some stage, most likely after either seeing how it goes or how it sounds :)

It was kind of inevitable that the motor would change, not necessarily that it's not an RB series motor anymore, but more so that they've moved away from the straight 6 to the V6. But then again, it's not a Skyline by name anymore is it.....

My personal view for now is that the front needs a bit of a change
