Just bought a new water pump for the moneypit. ($180bux Nissan FYI)

A few Questions:

HOW do you get the bottom cam cover off ? Is there a trick to removing it?

Do you need to remove the timing belt?

Do you need to remove the giant pulley at the bottom of the engine ?

My car is in pieces pending further sunlight and a more extensive know-how for this mofo!

Anyone else done this before and know the steps ???????

SEND HELP!

Cheers guys,

Coolant drained

Radiator out

Clutch fan out

Remove A/C, Pwr steer, alt/water belts

Remove Harmonic Balancer

Remove CAS

Top cam belt cover off

Bottom cam belt cover off

Loosen tensioner

Cam belt off

Remove waterpump

Install water pump

Replace cam belt

Set timing

If not recently done..........

Check the condition of the tensioner and idler.

Possibly replace both (take bearing to CBC and match it up, have them pressed in to the old shell). The money you save not buying new idler/tensioners from Nissan grab an exh. cam gear and drop it in while you are there. :)

Ask around for what to set the cam gear up at, to suit your mods.

New cam belt

New A/C, Pwr steer, alt/water belts

Check pwr steer hoses for leaks, replace if necessary

Possibly replace the fuel line hose. Remember to ask for EFI fuel line, not the regular stuff as its not rated to 76.5psi or what ever it is

Replace fuel filter

yeah man it's pretty straight forward. The cam belt actually has marks on it so you can set it up correctly on the cams and crank. If you are not actually replacing the belt, just get a marker and mark across the belt and a tooth on each pulley before you pull it off, saves trying to get the cams TDC etc. easy peasy.
