What Is It?

ey there some sort of comper in the boot of my series one skyline and i cant figure out what it is, its a silver box mounted on the drivers side of the car next to the battery mounted just under the parcel tray, it seems to get very very hot and its causeing extra tempreture above my amp and im not sure what it actully does can anyone tell me/??

Hey I actually don't have this box, but my car was meant to be equipped with HICAS. I guess someone removed it before I brought the car? It would explain why I don't get 'funny driving experiences' when my HICAS light comes on. (I have an aftermarked steering wheel)

mmm so if i get a hicas removal bar i should be able to unplus it all good or will i get funky errors on the computer n dash ect

No idea. I don't see why so many people want to remove or hinder it? Maybe for drifting or something, cause hicas is supposed to help you out of oversteer problems at high speed.

I can't even tell that mine is there... haven't done any high-speed oversteering.

I think most people remove/disable it because of play in the rack causing an "uneasy" driving feeling.

was reading that if you unplug that computer the steering will become heavy as the computer also controlls the power assist for the front as well

actually I have the box & my car doesnt have hicas at all???? So I reckon its the timer box for the rear screen electric demister?????? Any more theories????

one is for hicas and one is the standard amplifier for the standard sterio...

I actually rang Nissan Aust who emailed Japan & guess what- its the power steering computer module which modifies steering feel as speed increases!!!!! Nothing to do with hicas or demister or amp for radio.......
