can someone post a pic of the starter motor location?

i want to check its connection...

i recently has a walbro pump installed, and when i turn the ignition during prime sometimes i get nothing for a couple of seconds before it turno over

but once prime has finished it cranks straight away..

then again, sometimes it cranks fine!

only happened post-install of walbro by worksho[

cheers,

Warren

Sounds like bad connections some where.

There is no way a small motor like a fuel pump is going to bother a starter motor. If anything at all the starter motor would take the power away from the fuel pump due to the starter having a lower winding resistance than the fuel pump.

After all the talk of upgrading the wiring to use the std wiring to power the relay and wire the battery directly to the pump... Has anyone ever considered that even if you use big 8GA wiring from the battery to the top of the fuel pump lid connector, there is still the standard wiring from the lid down to the actual fuel pump.

This standard wiring is still your weak point. I would have thought that if you are going to a rewire with thicker gauge wiring, you have to go the whole hog and replace ALL the wiring right down the the pump itself!

Yep needs to be tested underload, I was able to see mine drop at idle and rev's. So an intank lift pump to an external pump is too much draw on the std r32 wiring.

The R33's may not see the voltage drop as much as an R32 as their battery is in the boot.

I saw such a voltage drop as I run the standard intank pump and an external bosh. So 2 pumps drawing through the small wiring.

Mearcat,

wiring resistance over distance.

I just wired up a relay this afternoon and all was going fine untill i turned the car off, now the turbo timer will not keep the car running but the ignition stays on but the car just stops. If i put the wires back to standard its fine, i tried using another relay but get the same result.

Everything was wired up right

30. 12v battery fused

85. earth

86. fuel pump trigger

87. fuel pump

Any ideas on what could be going wrong?

Does anyone know where the factory pump relay is.

Thanks.

where did you get your trigger power feed for the relay from?

it will have to be from something that is retaining power once the turbo timer is activated and running.

factory pump relay for the R33 is in the boot next to battery

Did you use looms earth on the relay? You need to use both the looms trigger (obviously) and the looms earth.

I had issues with the fuel pump staying on when I earthed the relay to the chassis.

Ok ill try that first thing tomorrow, i just earthed the relay straight to the body.
