hi guys

there is a new greddy ultimate out now, people are claiming they are the best.. how can a piggyback ecu be best?

i have even heard of people using power fc and emanage ultimate i piggyed onto there power fc.

can sydneykid please explain all this??????

why would you want, or even need two ecu's when you can just run power fc and that is that??

why would u want to piggyback the emanage onto the powerfc? the powerfc is full standalone and you have no need for piggyback. theres nothing the emage can do that the powerfc cant. but the other way there is a bit the powerfc can do that the emanage cant.

even comparing apples n bananas, and i think the powerfc will work out cheaper too and give you more features, a true standalone unit

see you are wrong there, new greddy emanage ULTIMATE... i was told from one particular guy that if you do that it is good...... sk is this true?

Paul said nothing wrong. It doesn't matter if it's the Emanage or the Emanage Ultimate, it makes no sense to piggyback anything on the PFC. Did the guy tell you what benefits there are in piggybacking it?

The only feasible scenario where an Emanage would be possibly better than a PFC would be in an auto, so you still retain the shift logic in the std ECU.

Yes the Ultimate has lots of new features but in the end, it is a correction-type device with only two base tuning maps.

Take a look at this thread. Although it's based on the Emanage, the principles are essentially the same. At the end of the day you're looking at a standalone ECU solution vs a piggyback.

That is one of the sentences which should be framed and placed in some sort of example catalog "What not to say when asking for help".

What exactly is your point there?

Sure we'd all like to hear some facts rather than simple statements of "Good", "Better" and "Wrong"

Does a piggyback system add time for action and ECU re-action in an event? Surely two lots of processing would increase the time that the final re-active event occurs? Have asked this question before, no one seems to want to address it.

$892 for the complete unit and its piggyback. You have to splice into lots of wires off the main harness to install it so not a true plug and play and not standalone. The powerfc is currently $958 and is true plug and play and standalone

there are other factors involved rather than just stand alone vs piggyback

I have an emanage for the following reasons

my car would need an AP engineering PFC ($1400 for the unit only, rare as hens teeth)

emanage software is readily available and reasonable priced, whilst official PFC software is not sold to consumers, and 3rd party is expensive.

hence emanage is a viable solution for people who wish to tune themselves at an affordable price, and pfc is good for the weekend warrior.

even if it is abit more difficult that tuning for a standalone.

The ultimate has new functions like auto tuning to a set AFR, by having a wideband the emange will maintain a consistant AFR, you just punch in your ratio and it does the rest.

now it would be useful on an auto as razorsharp said but it still piggyback. are there any mechanical gearboxes that are semi normal as in aren't transbreak / 2 speed boxes. so like a 4 speed box but mechnical so you aren't stuck with using the stock ecu for good shift logic? kinda off topic

Well i aint SK, and neither is anyone else posting in thier thread.

But give people some credit. IF you want a specific answer from someone then send them a PM

And no, its not true

also can you piggyback the pfc with ultimate emanage? what will be better?

listen to what you are saying before you post it.

--- powerfc install ---

the powerfc is stand alone engine management.

you rip of the kick panel, remove stock ecu. put powerfc in its place. put stuck ecu in the bin and start the car. you then have full control over the engine, hence engine management.

--- the emanage ultimate install ----

the emanage ultimate is piggyback.

you rip off the kick panel, tap into the wiring harness and pipe a lot of sensors through the emanage ultimate and back into the stock ecu. you then run the car and the emanage is a piggyback.

why on earth would u want to install a stand alone engine management and then run a piggyback? not only would it be pointless and probably just make the car run worse but it would cost twice as much

but in answer to your question, yes you could piggyback the emanage onto the powerfc. no idea why u want would to. it would cost like $2000 and you'd almost loose functionatliy as the signals the powerfc would get would be "bent" by the emanage trying to alter shit

i guess in answer to your question... what will be better cannot be answered as you are not comparing the same thing.

one is stand alone the other is piggyback

but if you must the powerfc will kill it hands down as they aren't the same thing. if apexi had a piggyback system then you could compare it. well i guess they do have the sitc and the safc. if you had those both then the emanage looks better

you've changed the original first post.

who is telling you they've piggy backed the emange onto the powerfc???

and more importantly why would they want to, if they god forbid actually did it ???
