im just a rookie when it comes to cars and really need advice, ive been looking at getting wheels for my r31 skyline, ive been told that the offset is +25, but does that mean i cant get anything but wheels with that offset? cause after looking around in this forum ive found that people have got different offsets on the rears to the front.

a company found some volk rims and said the thy should fit my car as they came off a 180sx, all i really know is that there 16x7 on the front and 16x8 on the back, and that the stud pattern is the same.

im fully confussed so advice would be very much apprectiated.

Matt,

I'm pretty sure that the offset they are talking about is for the rear only, with aussie rims they have no offset at all, which would mean your rims would be inside the guard by 25mm, which looks dick. With Jap rims the rears are always offset, so that they come out all the way to the guards. Volks are awesome rims, find out how much offset they are, you want at least 25mm offset, byut less than 40 or it will stick out too far.

Hope that helps.

thanks for the reply,

its an import r31, still a tad confussed so i checked out the volk website and the 16" 4 x 114.3 rims have the following offsets 16x7 : 25 33 42

16x8 : 38 42

are u saying that as long as there not +42 i should be right?

the reason why i need to know for sure is there in japan i would be paying for them before i got them so would be in some deep shit if they didnt fit right.

My wheels:

33 offset 16x7 on the front

33 offset 16x8 on the rear

R31 Australian Skyline

Wheels are not all the way out to the guards, but fill them sufficiently and look a lot better.

Stock offset is ridiculous.

The 42 might sit so far out that the tyre will be directly under the guard and cause clearance problems. Take the 33 and 38 offsets and youll be very happy. The wheels will dramatically improve the handling from the stock 15" silhouette wheels.

PS. Matt, check out the Queensland forum.

Matt,

I agree with slip on the offset sizes, but to be sure I would recommend going to a tyre place, telling them what your planning and seeing if they agree, just tell them that your planning on buying tyres from them so they'll be keen to help. Send us a pic once you get the mags.
