Hey pplz,

can you please look at this product selling on ebay:

Ebay product

Now i know this person selling it aint a fraud, however i am a bit hesitant about whether this thing realli does work. Has anyone bought and tried this product?

it says on a R33 it gave a 15 hp increase. A unique opportunity for cheap horsepower or a great opportunity to buy horsesh*t?

thanks guys.

It will modify any standard ECU by telling the ECU that the incoming air in the intake system is cold and so advances the ignition to compensate producing more power. In many cases fuel economy is increased too. Power is increased by up to 15BHP and torque is increased significantly.

It will be more responsive and you WILL LIKE IT.

He obviously has no idea what he is selling and simply reselling an item.

Nissan Skyline R33 GTS + 15BHP

There is a big problem here.... The R33 doesn't use an inlet air temp sensor... lmao.

Don't buy it, its a scam.

It may well work but since RB25DET's are extremely sensitive to fuel quality and ignition advance and increased boost and anything else that can cause detonation (hence broken ring lands and an engine rebuild) I would suggest avoid it like the plague. I've broken 2 RB25 engines and there are others in the broken engine thread in my sig so take a look and see if you want to play with fire.

My advice, spend the money on the usual stuff and save big dollars on rebuilds. No guarantees though, something can still go wrong in the hunt for power as with my RB25DETT race engine that cost me over 7K to build myself with turbo setup. One of the turbos let go lunching the front 3 cylinders.

i would be very skeptical about this as there is no actual proof from what i can see unless i missed something. just doesnt sit right with me <_<

and like GTRgeoff said a broken rb25det might eventuate from it

As everyone else has said, you'd be insane to use it. A generic part that fiddles with your ECU's sensors is just asking to break something.

There's a reason why signal interceptors (piggyback ECUs, SAFCs, etc) need to be tuned for specific vehicles. Everyone's car is a little different, so they respond differently.

This guy's just selling a resistor that he reckons will work on anything. Its either got to be ultra-conservative, or taking ultra-risks with your engine.

I mean, how does the guy know if the ECU is going to advance ignition for this "denser" air, or go the other way and richen out the mixture to avoid what it thinks will be a lean-out? Its not like different manufacturers react the same way when it comes to the safety / max power compromise they need to make as organisations that offer warranty against potential user stupidity.

If it does run the mixture richer to keep the same ratio regardless of air density, all this thing is going to do is rob power and waste petrol. Its not like its designed and tested specifically for your make and model of engine.

I'd treat the numbers they're giving you with the same skepticism that you'd have when some random person on IRC tells you they're 18 years old, blonde and female and wants to send you a pic of them in their underwear that, for whatever reason, they only have in .exe format.

You are all missing the point. The underlying fact is that this product also makes you more attractive to women. By installing it in your car (and forgetting the fact you could risk serious damage), your sex life will be fantasic. Small children will look up to you as their hero. You will instantly befriend any animal you come across and all of your friends will envy you. Spend the money - live the life you have always dreamed of!!!

I'm gonna have to start marketing my new line of products: Pla-C-bo +50kw in a variety of mods such as: fuel additives, fuel ionisers, AFM signal modulators, intake superchargers (with awesome 12V PC fan for supercharging), and the alltime favourite vortex air swirler.

Some punters on ebay are such gullible tards.

I think it stuffs with the AFM.

It works on cars that use an intake air temp sensor so it wont work on an RB25. In fact it would be dangerous as you said on a turbo car in general. There is a reason why the ECU does what it does when the intake air temp is high....

I spoke to the bloke.

He freaked out at me stating the R33 RB25's do indeed have air temp sensors and he was putting in some ebay thing where he reports me... meh.... Everyone should drop him an email stating R33 RB25's do not have air intake temp sensors, this is what your mechanic has said... :( something along those lines.

I hate ebayers that don't have a clue what they are selling.
