The white 32 GTR driven by Sam (car 40, i think) was doing 1.15's

A Porsche broke into a high 1.14's.

WHAT????

God damn. Too many people going way too fast! One day soon there is going to be a BIG stack at one of these sprint days then we'll see a bunch of new reg's come in.

Yeah that R32 GTR is an ANIMAL. Fully stripped and race prepped. One of the neatest engine bays I've ever seen! Top driver skills too.

15's at sandown is so quick i cant even comprehend how a "strret" car can get that time , i can manage a high 20(happy with that) at best and andrew/frank are flat/low 20's but 15's is miles away . These cars would have to make about 400 rwkw and wiegh in at around 1200kg?.

Andrew is right considering a roll cage isnt required at all for these timed sprints when one of these cars leaves the track ( lets hope it doesnt ) there isnt going to be much left of it.

adam

Would have been nice to take a look and see some quick times. Gotta agree with snowie that a cage should be mandatory for those times.

I've actually just been over bugging Issy at Selectmaz to see if the Improved Production car is for sale but he is running it next year so I'll probably just build one. Much less maintenance for track and lower costs runing an RX7 now that they are getting less popular.

I'm tipping the Porsche pulling 1:14's would have been the black one.

Without seeing times, I was tipping that and the mad 32GTR to be fighting for fastest lap of the day.

Anyway, I'M IMPRESSED!

Speaking of stacks, I nearly saw the black Ferrari cause a 200+km/hr doozie on the main straight with (from memory) that black Porsche trying to pass - looked very close from the pits!

Yeah I saw that, looked a weee bit to close for comfort.

Jack: surprised I didn't see you too mate, you'd think we'd be able to spot each other over the crowd! ;)

for whoever asked, here's some pics of the 550 from the SAU day a few weeks ago, plus a few more pics from sandown

This 350z?

Yep that one. Were there any other 350Zs? Still, no info from anyone on the car and how it was doing?

what times do the supercars do around there ???

If I remember correcly they are getting into 1:10s. And the Porsche Cup cars into 1:12s.

ps. I don't think I've seen anyone go quicker than 1:18s on a 'sprint day' ... and that car seriously flying considering it was 'only' on R-spec tyres.

Damn i drove past sandown twice on sunday and was gonna drop in both times but was 2 busy!!!

Nice looking cars there.

Can believe the white R32 has dropped 3 seconds from its last time at the wrx day.

Roy u gonna have to get that twin turbo lotus out there mate and show them how to do it ;)

I cant see the times up yet - to give you an idea,

The 550 was doing 1.23's.

Also great to meet Pome Jo - the SAU member in the Yellow EVO who was at the track yesterday.

I'm pretty sure he's now addicted and congrats on the lap times as well - 1.28 on your first outing. Awesome effort - sounds like we'll see you at Phillip Island next month.

Well AFAIK that GTR had a full rollcage, what about yours Andrew? Me think a new bunch of regs will be needed for cars like yours and Crazy Frank.

It would be awesome if there was a national motorsport series in Australia similar to "Improved Production" but only for skylines... like a GT series. But I can't see that happening, soo many regulations, etc.

    • No intention of driving the car the way it's set up now, just wanting to make sure I haven't made any mistakes along the way so that the tune can go smoothly, I don't want to waste anyone's time with stupid issues. And of course I intend to get it towed to the dyno in a completed state 😅 I have the base fuel pressure with the vacuum disconnected set at about 40psi, which I believe is at least relatively close to stock fuel pressure, maybe I'll have a fiddle with the reg and see what happens. For all I know I could be wasting my time with this and I should just plumb it in and see what the tuner reckons. I just find it a bit strange that it seems to be under so much load just free revving, but maybe that's just a result of the turbo slowing down the exhaust gasses and making a restriction in the flow, with no boost to compensate.
    • The boy just hit up google translate and it worked a treat, he said step one was "please urinate with precision and elegance", he then sent me the correct translation  I get some new loctite for the small fixtures tomorrow and get some "dort" going after that 🤣
    • Right, so is the fuel pressure the same as it was previously? If not, well, it's not going to work well. I can understand the theory I assume you are going for, which is: "Run it N/A, and if I have the original AFM, and same amount of fuel and intake air as previously, the fact there's a turbo in my exhaust should still make it run" Which it... might? Provided you don't actually change how much air or fuel is going into the car.. or getting out. But if you have changed that, all bets are off. What is the purpose to even have the car run this way? To get it to a tuner? And if the goal is to limp it to a tuner, you're still going to what - plumb up a whole intercooler system and new intake in the parking lot out front before your tune......?
    • Haha yea it's a bit of a weird setup at the moment, just wanted to make sure I sorted out any headaches before dyno day. At the moment I've changed the exhaust manifold, turbo and downpipe, 460lph fuel pump and rising rate reg as well as the previously mentioned headstuds and gasket. The nistune was already mapped for the car as it was and drove around for a few months no worries. The plan is to run flex fuel hence the big pump, which I've wired direct to the battery through a relay to avoid voltage issues.
    • Um. Was the ECU the same as the one previously there? I know R33's needed R32 GTST ECU's or other tomfoolery to run Nistune. This is such a wild setup. Most people would plumb in the turbo then not drive the car (i.e tow it to a tuner). What's actually changed since it last ran?
