atticus
Hey all. I just got my R33 gtst back the other day. I was in canberra and on friday night i got it. Went on the cruise and met people at the museum and all and it was fine. drove like it used to, if not a little better. saturday morning it wouldnt start. it sounded like it was about to kick over everytime i tried, so we called the NRMA. a dude came out (in about 5 minutes when they quoted 60 - 90) and he said that the sat. dishes and transmitting towers can affect the alarm i have, and f**k it up. so he just undid the battery and put it back, and it started. from berra i drove to wollongong. the car feels like its missing a beat somewhere. when i take off, the whole car kinda shakes, and you can here it grumble, similar to a V8. at high revs its much less noticable, but when im taking off or accelerating a bit hard it comes back. then this morning i go to start it again and it wont kick over. the same as when it first happened. my brother reckons it could be the ingnition coils or plugs or something. has anyone ever had this problem or know of what could be causing it? also, its just had a massive service, timing belt, all electric, fixed it idle problem etc. can anyone shed some light??? thanks. QRI05E
When my R33's coils began to play up, i only noticed misfiring after the car got hot (30min of driving) but i never had a problem with starting it... and there was a misfire through out the rev range especially around 4000rpm.. Theres a thread in the DIY forum on changing spark plugs in a R33... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...19&hl=R33+spark have a look at the thread and follow the instructions on removing your coil packs, check them for any hair line cracks (causes misfiring) a high quality duct tape can be used to tape up the cracks which will help them work better for a period of time... if this helps then you need new packs and their not cheap... also with my R33 i found i had a fowled up spark plug (due to the faulty coil packs) also caused misfiring... so check plugs and coil pack... if all looks fine then its something else... you problem sounds either fuel or electrical related... Check the following: 1. Spark plugs 2. Coil packs 3. Fuel pump (can you hear it when accesories is turned on?) 4. Injectors (run high quality injector cleaner with full tank of premium) 5. Air flow Meter (make sure sensor wire is clean and dirt free) I hope this helps! Tell us how you go... QRI05E
hahaha well if you had any rare vintage like a 350GT Mustang... it would appretiate 5 - 10Gs value every year! At the end of the day we are driving almost 10yr old cars, these things are expected to happen and its better to fix them properly 1st time round so they last longer... Nissan do build one of the best sports cars in the world! scotty nm35
If your issue is still there after 10 years... I would burn the car. What is it doing? What problem other than top end missfire would make you put those cheap arse coils on your engine? 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/92218-r33-problem-sluggish-feel/#findComment-7417983 Share on other sites

First start of a morning runs like shit, as soon as oil pressure reaches more than half way it idles like its dropped a cylinder or two. Once warm its fixed untill flat out 2nd to 3rd change then starts almost flooding and running rough.
