Hi to all,

WE have recently been getting into our workshop to repair, poorly fitted and constucted R33 body kits, these have been installed by dealers trying to squeeze a few more bucks out of the poor consumer. The last one We repaired was held onto what was left of the bumper support by 3 rusty coach screws, the sides were also "flapping" about and the kit required side supports to stop the 4"inches of travel.

If buying a vehicle with a A/M body kit CHECK that the bumper support has not been cut out or removed. The Dept of Transport is now aware of these kits and will now be failing vehicles with "cut away" bumper supports. Its also well worth considering that if one of these vehicles is involved in any collision or impact that most of the insurance companies will NOT pay-out any insurance!!! as the frontal supprt section of the vehicle"required by ADR,s and VSR,s has been altered or removed. If you have one of these vehicles or are contemplating the fittment of a front mount get some kind of supports fitted and have it sighted by an engineer, this may save you some serious hassels down the road.......

Hope is helpfull

yeah know what you mean hey. I just got a GTR reinforcement fitted so the kit slotted on nicely. i have been warned about this before by a few people. I had major dramas with my front bar anyways so i had to get it passed by welshpool tech centre or some crap. dang crazy

anyways thanks for the warning and if you wanna send me some pics too please [email protected]

Cheers Guys,

I will send out some pics as soon as i can figure out how to re-size them as they are A4 and it will choke the hell out of my computer . I have a workshop in Wangara and specialise in Toyota Soarers(sorry guys) Distinctive Car Imports .We are moving into the new R.A.W system due to come into force May 03 this basically means that importers after this date will require a "Quality assured Workshop "to continue to import vehicles.I will venture into the "what this means to you guys" at a latter date. But it is a positive step towards cleaning up the industry and puts the responsibility on the workshops to ensure vehicles are properly prepared before sale this will involve audits and alot of red tape from our friends at D.O.T.A.R.S "Canberra types". As I know alot of you are aware of the dropping prices on Imported vehicles particularly Skylines, this seems a bit odd as the prices for quality vehicles in Japan remains high!!!! this is due to compliance plate holders importing cheap-end substandard vehicles to use up there remaining plates before May 03. This is having a negative and false effect on prices of quality vehicles purchased 6-12 months ago.Dont panic although these vehicles will get cheaper in the next few months I feel that there will allways be a market for quality vehicles.I feel its up to you and your members to "warn" purchasers of some of the pitfalls in buying what appears to be a cheap Skyline remember you get what you pay for and this is particularly true in the import industry!!! Istrongly believe in public education and giving the purchaser as many facts as possible,as I think that any of you whom know me will verify this. The import industry has had alot of negative press of late and I feel as a importer, we all get "tared' with the same brush.I am not trying to sell or promote myself through the forum just trying to avoid any more bad press and "pissed" off customers, being forewarned is being forearmed!!!

Cheers.....
