Guest OFD14L
Hello ppls, i have just recently purchased my fist skyline (R33 Gtst) As am not in the older part of my life (or hell even anywheres near the mid part thereof) i cannot afford insurance. So i am opting for a tracking system. What would be the best one to get????... I know they are generally about the $1500-$2000 mark + monitoring but i am happy to pay heaps more if it will get me a better system. (Considering the thousands im still not paying in insurance). I have been trying to search for "Tracker" themselves but with no luck. Does any1 have any suggestions???? Even better Contacts??? thanx -OFD14L Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/9225-tracking-systems/ Share on other sites
JET-33
i think one called quicktrack is one of the best around, goes 4 around 2k... hope this helps Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/9225-tracking-systems/#findComment-138505 Share on other sites
eliter33
i know that Vision Security just released a new one to the market which actually seems to be quite good. There is a review on it in the 2002 Hot4s Yearbook... pg.124 rrp of $2200 including mapping software for your pc... My store sells it... i think it is good...not just becuase i sell it either.... i have used vision alarms for ages... good luck with it... let me know if you have any more q's Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/9225-tracking-systems/#findComment-138520 Share on other sites
Duncan
I run quicktrack in both my cars, and my car hasn't been stolen yet.... who knows how effective it really is? There are a few technologies, quicktrack is radio (thru buildings but limited coverage), satelite (line of sight only), gsm (mobile phone, maybe the best of both worlds). My last car was stolen, and I'll do what I can to make sure this one doesn't got the same way. SS8_Gohan
i've been told navtrak is better than quick. 3 satellites being used instead of 1. 3 pt immobiliser. i think 1200 to install plus first year coverage, then 300 every year after. Apparently no car with navtrak has been stolen, but i don't think it's been around long enough for anyone to give it a good try. cheers. akeenan
why dont you get at least 3rd party? if you run into say umm a rolly royce.... you'll be paying for it all your life! predator
3rd party generally only covers up to the first $5000 of a car.. .basically its useless on any car of value. You have to go full comp if you want it insured up the full value. It stinks I reckon to pay "theft coverage" when they don't give you the full value if it is in fact stolen. $2k seems a lot to install for a car that is maybe worth $20k.. maybe an R34 GTR it would be worth it. xRHETTx
You want to have 3rd party at least. Some guy crashed into my crap r31 and had no insurance last year. RACV sued him for me and he had to morgage his house to pay to fix my car. Dumbass. Imagine if u hit a $100,000 car, ull b in shit. $500 for 3rd party doesnt look so bad after all. Ive heard navtrak is good, better than quiktrak. Quiktrak works on radio signal so if ur not in the city its worth shit all. GPS works everywhere. Duncan
SS8_Gohan Yeah, Quicktrack is radio, not GPS, so coverage is capital city only. They also claim "no thefts", but who knows exactly what that means? The main issue with GPS is you need line of site to 3 satelites to get a fix, which won't be effective any time you park under cover. Scotty
Hi OFD14L, I'm in the EXACT same position as you and will only be getting third party. Can you please check out both the Navtrak and QuickTrack option and decide which one is best? Ie, GPS coverage over radio coverage. Realiability, cost, and trackability like say under cover etc. Your comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also most insurance companies will cover you (under 3rd party) if you were not at fault and the other person is uninsured up to the value of $3000. JET-33
hmm, u right when u say u must have 3rd party, its just common sense, but the thing is sometimes it aint much difference. my mate wanted a 33 or 32, and th full comp for him with no rating was like 5-6k, but the 3rd party was still a few k aswell..it sucks but if u want these cars u gota pay it.... and 3rd party wont cover u for any reason....if someone smacks ya car up and cant pay ya pretty much screwed..insurance wont pay for u, thats why they have full comp.... and ya right about the max coverage, i think the max is 5k, so if ya car is stolen and worth 20k u get f***ed on, just gotta get full comp, its the only (kinda) safe way.. id be intereted to know about thos tracking systems too, i mean 2k is worth paying if it is in fact a mad system but if u gotta consider underground not workin etc its a total waste of money Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/9225-tracking-systems/#findComment-139452 Share on other sites
akeenan
i think you got your facts mixed up....read ur 3rd party property policy again. vishes you are correct... and 3rd party wont cover u for any reason....if someone smacks ya car up and cant pay ya pretty much screwed..insurance wont pay for u, thats why they have full comp.... this is not 100% correct, it depends on the company and the circumstances I know that if someone smacks me and cant pay the insurance pays for me and sues them or something along these lines i forget but i was rather impressed... Henros
3rd Party will cover property damage upto 10/20 million as a result of the driver's fault. The 5k or so limit is for theft, not property damage. Some 3rd party policies(like mine - suncorp) do not even cover theft. On the issue of radio vs GPS, don't all tracking systems use radio waves? GPS uses radio waves too, just at a much higher frequency, which is why they do not go through buildings. JET-33
hmm, maybe they will fix ya car but i think its gonna end up being your claim anyway..... so trackin systems that use just radio waves r the best? or do u need to look for other things aswell... Duncan
I'm not sure what's best, I took radio over GPS due to possible better recption underground. GSM (mobile) could be even better for reception though. Also remember radio only currently covers syd, melb, bris, can. Henros
Jet-33, the upto 20 million property damage 3rd party will cover is for other people's properties you damage. 3rd party will not pay to fix up your car. Therefore, the maximum risk of getting 3rd party instead of comprehensive is the market value of your car in the case of a total write-off in an accident which you cause. JET-33
yeh of course..maybe u didnt understand what i was saying, i agree with u on that yeh the $$$ for 3rd party damage would b rediculously high, it just u get dicked with your cars value Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/9225-tracking-systems/#findComment-140162 Share on other sites
