Tracking can be good... but if the thief has anyclue they can disable it in a few simple minutes...

I just bought my line the other week... Had a good quality alarm and 3pt immobiliser installed...

Just be carefull where you park and always hope for the best.

Congrats on the purchase :)

All these different alarm tracking systems have their advantages and disadvantages. You have to look at how you use your car and then pick the one that suits.

With 3rd party I know for sure that Suncorp will pay up to 5k to get your car fixed if it was not your fault.

I know an installer that has an alarm that you use with a sim card. You program your number into it and it calls you when anything is wrong. Of course it has limitations since it's working off the GSM network. However at $550 or so fully installed it's not a bad option if you are on a budget.

The only bad thing is you have to have an existing alarm if you want the normal funtions like opening the doors for you or locking and winding up your window.

If anyone wants to install this PM me and i will give you the number if this installer. He works in the Sydney area.

Some interesting issues raised here....

If my car was to be stolen and then recovered, but with say $3000 of damage, would my 3rd party fire and theft policy pay for that damage given the policy states that it covers theft up to $4000? Or is that just if the vehicle isn't recovered?

Thanks
