Rated at 420hp, a mate of mine has a 2835ProS on RB25, makes 300+rwkw. Runs a .64 exhaust housing, internal gate, very responsive

On a RB20, it might be a little laggy, but with a decent manifold, decent boost (1.5bar) and maybe a set of cams, it would probably work alright on a RB20. If I you could though, maybe try and swap to a .64 exhaust housing. Would make allot of power, thats for sure

I'd say get a 2530 then if you want response. If you want mega response but slightly less power 190-200rwkw then get a 2510 like I have

I want more top end, so will be looking at getting a 2530 at some stage

Sounds llike with your maniflod though you could go for something external gate, most external gate turbo's sacrifice some response for more power up top. 2530 will bolt up to the standard manifold

You have some conflicting information and there are lots of variations in the 2835 series .

You describe it as a 56 trim compressor while its ID tag reads 52 trim .

There are 3 HKS turbos listed using the 700177-0002 CHRA . Generally the variations are housing style and ARR . From what I can tell the compressor covers on all HKS2835 series are .50 ARR T04E . What they call GT2835 have 70mm (2.75") inlet barbs and 50mm (2") outlet barbs in 380/400/410 PS versions . The GT2835 "Pro S" and "R" versions are 100mm in and 50mm out .

HKS lists your version as using a T25/28 flanged GT30 external gate exhaust housing in .61/.73/.87/1.01 and 1.12 ARR's . The .86 ARR housing you mention should be a T25/28 flanged GT28 integral gate housing .

Garretts engineers don't like the GT30 based turbines when used in bored out GT28 housings and prefer them in GT30 housings .

That turbo on offer would be a really good thing if it had HKS's GT Pro S integral waste gate exhaust housing on it . I'm curious to know what a good deal means ie good price or good sales pitch . The choice of exhaust housing will make or break its effectiveness and if it has the wrong flange for your manifold the effort to make it fit is not cost effective .

To get the best out of it on the RB's exhaust manifold it needs that housing which has the necessary T3 flange to bolt up .

Good turbo "deals" often go sour when fortunes are needed to hang them off the engine . So if its a $1000 turbo (yeah right) I'd grab it , it its a $2200 turbo I'd ask them to lightly grease and .......

    • Honda's hybrid system can be easily scaled up to PHEVs. Series hybrid at low speeds, at higher speeds the engine directly drives the wheels but there can still be some power bled off to charge the battery + the electric motor can still provide parallel assistance too. It's really only a question of will at that point. Toyota's PHEVs are selling incredibly well at the moment because of the flexibility. You can run on EV mode when it makes sense, but if you're planning on doing a long highway drive you can still fire up the gas engine and not have to worry about dealing with the rather miserable state of public charging infrastructure.
    • Only reason to keep a MAF on your RB25 is to be able to easily calculate true VE if you know what the factory voltage curve represents in grams per second of flow. Also allows you to do things like pull the original OEM ignition + AFR target tables and use those as a starting point for your base map. Once you're well and truly done tuning though there's no need to retain the MAF.
