2 Weekends ago, i blew my exhurst to turbo manifold gasket. when i had a look the 2 nuts on the right of the turbo were loose, so i know how the gasket went.

I rang a parts supplier and they didnt stock the gasket so my boss just told me to make one, since he already had exhurst manifold paper. Should i have used gasket gue or something like that?

got it all fixed up on wednesday, and by saturday it was gone again. just wondering if normal exhurst paper would be ok on my R33.

yesterday i just drove around to an exhurst place to see if they had a proper gasket and they didnt so i asked him for a quote, he said that the exhurst manifold would prob be warped. so it would all need to be machined... does that sound rite?

Thanks in advance

Wayne

Get the proper gasket. Should fix the problem. You can't use cheap crap here, just won't work.

It is possible to warp it but I don't think this has happened in your situation.

Sealent will not help much - too hot - even more reason to get the proper gasket.

As long as it's a quality item and not that cheap stuff.

I wouldn't say the gcg ones looked that good... about 1/3 the thickness of the genuine nissan copper ones. Its almost paper thin.

I bought one and never bothered using it when I compared it to the proper nissan one... even if it was 100k old..

Always thought that GCG produced good products, but maybe not in this case.

Play it safe - go the Nissan. ;)

Not complicated to install, just put in place and bolt her up.

Maybe some lock tight on the nuts so they don't come loose.

Heres a trick, get some proper exhaust lock nuts. If the ones on there are coming loose, then they are not doing their job.

I reused my old genuine gasket, the steel folded one that came of the factory mani. More times then not ive found that the nuts are incorrect and if it comes even slightly loose the gasket has no chance.

Is it an a/m mani?

i had the same problem. i bought a gasket from hardcore then realised it was much thinner than the nissan item so returned it and got 1 from nissan. from memory it was under $40. Didn't change nuts...just bolted up as tight as possible and hammered the brackets as close as possible to the nuts. I hope it lasts as it was a hassle to change.
