Hey guys

Im about to purchase a 92 R32 GTS-T and im just a little concerned regarding the petrol prices,on going costs, maintenance and servicing????

Iv luved em ever since i was bout 14 and have been dying to own one (R32 off course)

and im about to purchase one but just makin sure im not gonna be watching my car sit in the garage due to petrol prices and also maintenance????

Does it cost heaps to maintain????

Does petrol really kill the cash flow every week????

How easy is it to get rego????

Whats the maintenance like as in cost wise????

Lets say making an average wage say bout 2g'z a month, should be enough i hope ehehehh

With 2000 a month you should be fine just to maintain and run the car, assuming that you use a tank of fuel per week and that the car is running with no problems. If you drive 400-500km a week, then your weekly cost for that will be around $50-$60.

Also keep in mind that you'll have to have some money for rego, insurance and inspections of the used car you are looking to buy.

As for maintenance, it really depends on what condition the car is in. That is why it's really important to find a good example.

The way I see it, you only live once.

Driving a sports car is generally a young person's thing (not that I don't know some older guys who still drive it like they stole it, but generally you grow out of it) so I'd rather own a sports car while I can still appreciate it.

I remember when I was on my P's putting around in the family hand-me-down, seeing all these old farts driving M3s and Porsches like a bunch of slowpokes. What's the point of having some of the nicest NA engines in the world if you're going to operate on a mental redline similar in number to a Ford Windsor V8 or the boat anchor the Commodores used to run?

I promised myself I'd never end up like that. I was going to own a sports car while I was young enough to drive it like a sports car, and the day I get over corner carving I'll trade the car in and buy something soft and practical.

ok here's what i think. just because petrol prices are at $1.35 during the week, it doesnt mean driving a skyline will send you broke. it would prob end up costing you and extra $10-$20 a week in petrol. so a max of about $70 a week is about right.

as for maintenance, its anyones guess, your buying a car that is 13 years old, there is bound to be something about to break and need repairing.

thanks guys....

Yeh i dnt really mind about the petorl prices as i know it will cost a little more than any other car, doesnt really bother me as i love em and love the boost hehehe

just the whole maintenance and the cost of services.......

the last thing i want is to have a R32 sitting in my garage for 1 month waiting for a service cus of lack of money or repairs lol lol

Yeh i know wat u guys mean by being young, not like old farts in fast cars with no balls ! hehehe

thanks heaps fellas :)

hope too see you guys on the road soon :O hehehe

$70 a week? geez i must drive a heap more then most ppl.. i use my car as a general get around car, as i dont have another one.. and going to work every day, and other stuff, i go through about 2 to 2 and a half tanks a week.. and im on about $1600 a month.. so im sure ya will be able to afford it on $2000 (B)

Thanks guys for al the opinoins and help :D

looks like i will be buying it this weekend hehehe

cant waiitttttt

soo syked !

just wanna hear and feel that boost

    • Uncle Duncan Yeap, FI Interchiller  Works well, normal IAT's cruising with the WTA only went from 50°c+ to 25-30°c with the interchiller  Before, when on it hard, the IAT would see 80-90°c, now, the highest has been was around 38°c IIRC IAT is measured under the blower hat I recommend it for the street or strip where your only on it hard for 10 or so seconds, but it wouldn't be efficient for sustained track use as it would heat soak from the AC turning off or whatever it does during WOT to protect the compressor It really needs the AC running for it to not heat soak and keep the WTA coolant chilled My WTA coolant temps when just cruising is around 2°c
    • Hey Mark...sorry to interrupt your career change to hair dressing... but...did you ever fit the interchiller to the commodore, and if so how was it? And, who made it?
    • I've been pondering this, I really enjoy the convertible thing, for me, it's like riding a motorbike, without all the issue of riding a motorbike, mainly, my old sore arthritic joints getting beaten up, and, being able to do it in shorts and a T-shirt and not needing a helmet and all the other gear required, especially like wearing jackets and pants in the summer, or needing 6 layers of cloths in the winter, or not having wet weather gear handy when your 100km away from home on the bike when it decides to start raining As for the hard top and its Coupe look, whilst I do lose all that open top feeling that I really enjoy, from my experience with the NB with a detachable hard top, the cabin is a much nicer place to be, the difference in noise for one, a hard top quietens down the interior, alot, with the soft top up or down it's pretty noisy, which, after 5 or so hours, can get tiring But, as you stated, the detachable hard top totally changes the look of the car, in a really good way, and for me, the look of a detachable hard top is so much better than the PRHT which looks more like a after thought with its weird bulbous rear roof line For me, the minimal effort of putting in on, or storing it after removing it, is well worth the time and effort for the look alone And yes, I'm sure the next owner will be grateful for it as well.......
    • I get into huffs with people when I suggest the MX5 looks so much better as a coupe than it does as convertible. Pretty sure I don't prefer the convertible version of anything. Good job on the hardtop! The next buyer will appreciate.
    • IMO wrap does have its uses, but like you said, quality wrap, and professional installation, would probably cost want a quality paint job does, but, the paint, if maintained, is basically for life, and much easier to touch up if required  In other news: it's pissing down here, with thunder, lightning and only some small hail "at this stage", luckily all "my" cars are undercover  I've also been contacted by a guy in Newcastle about the SS, he said he will come down next weekend for a look, we'll see how that transpires I guess 🫰
