im ready to buy my 1st skyline...i do really like the r32 but i dont mind the r33..

i have 15K absolute max to spend on a turbo skyline..prefer spending closer to 10k tho..

must be manual and under 100,000km's...

what is the best one to get in ur opinions as u all own them..it will be my daily driver but want it to drift/drag

would i be correct in assuming the r32 and r33 with similar mods go equally as hard as eachother?

Probably a better chance of getting a 32 with mods to suit the purpose. Do a search and youwill find the RB20 enjoys a rev-happy reputation.

RB25 has more low-end torque which will move you off the line easier and may lead to easier drift dependin on suspension setup. Again, do a search.

I ended up with a ECR33 and am overall happy, but just missed out on a 33 GTS4, 5 grand cheaper. Down on power, but throw on a set of turbo spec brakes and it would be a hell of a car for the driver who doesn't put a premium on power over grip/handling.

Natural aspiration is not a bad option.

"must be manual and under 100,000km's"

to be honest with you, im no genious when it comes to cars (which is why i joined aus: to learn) but from what i have heard, it seems that most of the cars have had the odometer reversed or whatever to make it look like the k's are low...?

but dont take my word for it cos its only speculation, not actual fact.

James.

my 98 model 33 has 65,000 on the clock, and they imprters tell me its not very un-beleiveable judging by the condition of the interior etc....i guess you'll never really know

from what ive seen, the 1's with low k's and log books to prove it, are accident repaired, so they probably sat in the shop for months not moving anywhere.

at the end of the day as long as the car is in good condition, ignore the k's

you may struggle to find a nice 33 for 10k, infact i doubt you will get 1 at all...maybe an auto GTS non turbo....go for the 32, and even still, at 10k you prolly wont get anythin too crash hot.

10k will see an average non turbo 32.

15k opens up the market a lot more; turbos and 33s,

Look on carsales, carpoint, drive etc, as well as the for sale section to get an idea of how much what is likely to cost.

Good hunting

Mind you a Japanese car that was driven in Japan and has around 40 K on the clock is worse off than a Japanese ADM car with 40 K on the clock that was driven in Australia from day 1. The reason for it is cos Japan has congested roads and a lot of the times the average speed that the car will travel there will be around 40 KM/H, thus a lot more stress on the engine.

Hey Ego, I think you'll have to decide what you like best man, they have a similar chassis/brakes/motor setup. . .

A lot of ppl prefer the lower weight and the looks of the R32, they have similar speed and brakes to 33's

But while the R33 is heavier it also has a bigger motor with much improved low down torque/power. . .

IMHO try to get an R32 with an RB25 in it, best of both worlds. B)

I got my 33 for <15 000 with mods, so it depends a lot on your budget too, take a couple for a drive. . .

Good luck

thanks guys for the imput...i have made my decision..im gonna get a R32 gts4 2 door manual..

i no what to look for on the body side of cars but i don have much knowledge on the turbo side of things..

is any1 willing to come with me when i find a gts4 i might buy and go over it for me?i will make it worth your while, pay for ur fuel to get to me and throw u a bottle of rum, xxxx, vodka etc for your time and opinion

only ppl in bris tho

For every 10 r32 gtst you are going to see, you might see on gts4. So your choice will probably be quite limited.

Not sure how old you are but if you are 18-20 keep $3000 spare for insurance etc, if you are 21 or over its a fair bit better... might get full comp down to under a grand.

And you can bet that any car that you are looking at will have more than 100 000kms. (you would have to admit you are looking at the lower end of the price range) And if its less than this, IT HAS BEEN WOUND BACK. A genuine low km great condition r32 gts4 will be worth $15k easy, not $10-12k.

Good luck, a gts4 would be an awesome car.

Heres a cheap R32 GTST on ebay - Click here

Its got a few mods, but requires some improvements.

If you got it you could still afford insurance and also make some improvements in time.

The car is in QLD also :)

Quite afordable for only 8K. B)

surely the speed would not effect the engine stress? i thought it would simply be a matter of where the revs were at...? :P

    • On the bright side, at least you knew that it happened and remedied before anything happened. A friend of mine just took his Fiat 124 to a shop for an oil change and they didn't tighten the oil filter housing properly. 4.5 quarts spewed out and even after refilling + tightening the cap the engine has a tick now.
    • So, more pain. The FAST manifold is a little larger than the stocker. This is problematic because there really wasn't much clearance to begin with, so going from 'barely enough' well into 'no' is sad based on the external dimensions of the thing, even though where it bolts to the head is the same. Result is the fuel rails sit a good 25mm higher, and this is a bit of an issue with the wiring that runs behind the motor, and the fuel lines, and everything else. When pushing the manifold on, it required a huge amount of force to crush wiring looms to fit it, sensors like the MAP sensor are about 1mm from the firewall, and the FPR just has to bend ABS lines to be forced into place. After some brainstorming and some sad drinking, the loom for some reason ran from the grommet behind the ABS sensor, then to the driver side head, then back to the passenger side head. So all of this was pulled back and stripped, a few wires cut and rejoined, so that the 'branch' was now on the passenger side's head as below: Before you basically couldn't see anything behind the driver head. This is much improved! The MAP sensor is now pointing up (instead of at the firewall) Brackets have been made up for the rail. The rails are for a LS1, the manifold is designed around a LS2 as it's base. Which of course has slightly different bracketry and water pump clearance, hence the mods people need to do. Should be hopefully mounted tonight. I spent money on a new FPR that is slightly more compact than my Turbosmart FPR1200. The gauge has also been moved to the rail. There's also apparently an ORB to AN Union instead of the adapter, because the ~25mm of the current adapter is going to make the difference. Provided this all goes together and arrives today, it'll be the totally not stressful attempt to start it.
    • This seems like a pointless exercise. There is no E30 availability. Ongoing availability of E85 should not be assumed. Flex-fuel is the only sensible approach, so you can use E85 when and where you can get it, 98 when that's al you can get, and anything in between as you fill it up and drain it down. And if that means replacing the pumps, fitting a flex capable sensor/ECU/whatever has to be done to these Renault shitboxen, then.....so be it?
    • Sorry, I wasn't very clear.....just that the standard injectors are apparently good over 600rwhp/450rwkw which you won't get to on standard turbos anyway.....they are much better sized from factory than we are used to in RBs.
    • I'm not sure where you are, but United Terrey Hills has E85.
