Should we run a guessing contest? Winner gets.....well something worthwhile. I reckon 6 things to guess, the one that gets the most right wins;

Engine; My guess is 3.0 to 3.6 litre V6 with 2 X turbos

Power; 300 kw (+ or - 10%)

Gearbox; 6 speed manual

Drive; 4wd

Body; Aluminium bonnet, guards, suspension arms, boot and doors, Carbon fibre front and rear spoiler & diffuser, air deflector and some internals trim pieces

Price; Between Yen 6,000,000 and Yen 7,000,000 for the basic (race spec, stipper) and between Yen 7,000,000 and Yen 8,000,000 for the all the fruit version.

Should we have a go?

:) cheers :)

If we are going to guess, we have to be pretty speciffic:

Engine; "VQ37DDTT" 3.7 litre biturbo V6 based off the VQ engines, DOHC, direct injection

Power; peak power of 450 bhp at about 7000 rpm, peak torque of 600-650 Nm from 2500 to 4500 rpm

Gearbox; 6 speed manual with 7 speed sequential optional

Drive; 4wd with rear drive bias

Body; 2 door coupe, aluminium bonnet and front guards, magnesium alloy wheels, carbon fibre aero kits as a factory option (or as part of a V-Spec package?)

Price; In Australia, I'm guessing it will be Porsche 911 money as a private import, so around $200k. If it is released here as a full volume import by Nissan, it may be $25k to $40k less than that.

Direct injection is a long shot, but I will predict is as not many others will. So if I'm right everyone will think I am awesome. :D Although now that I have said that, any chance on that happening is gone :)

I'm really hoping they go for 500hp. It seems to be the magic figure in the motoring industry these days. Gallardo, Ferrari F430, BMW M5, Corvette Z06, Mercedes SL55 and SL600, all have very very close to 500 bhp if not exactly 500 bhp - it's the power output every manufacturer seems to want. But I think reallistically 450 bhp will be about right.

My guess would be twin turbo 3.8l V6TT hybrid. with a combine power output of 350-360kw, main drive is to rear with helper electric front.

I'm 99% with yo ubut I think smaller motor, say VQ32. The 350z has a bit of a long stroke already and only revs to 6000, I can't see a GTR which revs less.

But I totally agree with the electric front drive....

If anyone can recall an interview with C. Goshn about 2 years ago regarding the GTR. I remember that he replied to the tune" We wont release the GTR until we can deliver a car that will has the same impact to the motoring world as the original R32 GTR"

And to me by going V6 or V8 turbos with awd is pretty much has run it course. I think Nissan would wants to be the first in the world with a true performance Hybrid, that would rewrites the motorsport history books.

Cheers to that. Althought performance like the R32-4 shipped to the U.S. would be ground breaking all by itself.

Engine; V6 3.2L short stroked 8250 Redline Single Turbo, 8psi stock, 425HP

Gearbox; 6 speed manual, Push type Clutch

Drive; 4wd with rear drive bias

Body; 3200lbs, Otherwise, don't care, better outhandle anything currently under $200K Available in the Baddest Blue yet to be offered by Nissan.

Price; $70K U.S. Dollar, base price.

Will be badged Infiniti here. Optional Nissan badges available at dealership. (that would be cool, but definately won't happen)

The hybrid thing is interesting... Toyota is developing a 550nm electric motor for future hybrids. There was a rumour that they were looking at putting this into WRC cars in a few years. Two in fact - one front, one rear, to give peak torque of 1100nm available from 0 rpm. Then the petrol engine kits in and gives EVEN MORE POWER (and torque).

If Nissan can produce something like that for their GTR road car, THAT would rewrite pretty much every performance car rule book there is!

Reliable sources say 4.5 litre V6 twin turbo (someone working on GTR project), And I assume it will be 7 speed auto with F1 padel shift or somthing and a 6 speed manual option. 330kw, constant 4wd the body mainly carbon fibre and aluminium (do we need to be specific on where its applied?) Price: $170,000

4.5 litre V6? Where would they get such an engine? Sounds too big to be derived from the VQ engine series, and Renault's bean counters wouldn't allow Nissan to develop a 100% unique engine for a relatively low volume model like the GTR. I will beleive it if I see it, but until then I will not beleive your "reliable sources." 4.X litre V8 is beleivable, 3.X litre V6 is beleivable, 4.X litre V6 is not...

Plus, at 4.5 litres, the pistons would be the same size as those in a six litre HSV Clubsport, and I seriously doubt you could get the revvy nature a GTR deserves reliably from such gigantic pistons.

the 206kw limit was gone when they made the Z-tune, also previous models had more power but not on paper hehehe. anyways thats no longer in existence so new cars from JP will be more powerfull

Said reliable source was Danny at imports 101 he said and i quote: "Luckily Imports101 has a contact that works for the company in Japan that has designed the new ABS and EPS system for the "soon to be unveiled" GTR.

What do you all want to know about the new GTR?

Did you all know that the engine is a 4.5 Ltr V6 twin turbo!! Thats acording to our friend in Japan."

And just because the previous GTR's were revy has no impact on whether they intend for this engine to be and I'm not saying I believe what Danny said its just a hell of a lot better to go than what anyone else is. Who knows what they intend to do, it may well be based on the VQ engine but on a larger scale and not neccesarily 100% unique. Until we get hard facts from nissan why bother surmising anything.

Will it have four engines because there is 4 wheels ( One motor for each wheel?). But then there would be 4 diffs, gear boxes as well wouldnt it?

I wouldnt bother with it in that case because it will be to heavy. however I like the four exausts it will obviously be a v17! hahah

Someone has already put money down on one at a dealership in Melbourne.I am seriously considering doing the same if its at the Melbourne Motor Show in February.

My guess 2 GTR versions

World GTR:

Engine: 4 - 4.5 litre V8 Quad Cam, Direct Injection

Power: ~300kw

Gearbox (i believe there will be an option of): 6speed manual, 6-7speed sequential Paddle shift, or CVT

Drive: 4wd (possibly electric motor driven)

Body: Aloy guards, suspension arms, boot and doors, Carbon or Carbon Kevlar bonnet, front and rear spoiler & diffuser, air deflector and some internals trim pieces

Price: $150k

Japan & Maybe Europe:

Engine: 3 - 3.5 litre V6 Quad Cam, Direct Injection, twin electonic assisted turbos

Power: ~300kw

Gearbox (i believe there will be an option of): 6speed manual, 6-7speed sequential Paddle shift, CVT

Drive: 4wd (possibly electric motor driven)

Body: Aloy guards, suspension arms, boot and doors, Carbon or Carbon Kevlar bonnet, front and rear spoiler & diffuser, air deflector and some internals trim pieces

Price: $120k

I think what is important to remember is that this car maybe a World Release.

This could mean two things.

1: The burdon of production may be spread to more than one factory

2. The Current production method and components would have to be similar to those already in use. I doubt they are going to engineer an entire new motor just for the GTR. It is an important fact to remember that the previous GTR was VERY expensive to produce (By memory was one of the many reasons nissan nearly folded). I doubt they are going to make that mistake again. So you should expect the VQ or VH Engine family to be used. Sure they may vary the capacity and add a turbo or two, but it will still be designated a VQ or VH engine.

I would like Nissan to go to the extent of having an entire production line just for the GTR, where they trial new production methods & techniques. God knows it has been long enough since the last GTR ceased production. But i doubt it.

A world wide release would indicate that Nissan may want to use the V8 for markets like Aust, USA, South America & possibly the Arab Countries where the majority of potential target buyers may prefer a V8.

Countries like Japan & Europe may prefer smaller capacity engines like a V6.

my 2c based on opinion only. absolutely no fact(s) :)

    • looking forward to your t56 swap man its a game changer if it works!
    • So, when are you trying the new GR86 or BRZ?
    • Uncle Duncan Yeap, FI Interchiller  Works well, normal IAT's cruising with the WTA only went from 50°c+ to 25-30°c with the interchiller  Before, when on it hard, the IAT would see 80-90°c, now, the highest has been was around 38°c IIRC IAT is measured under the blower hat I recommend it for the street or strip where your only on it hard for 10 or so seconds, but it wouldn't be efficient for sustained track use as it would heat soak from the AC turning off or whatever it does during WOT to protect the compressor It really needs the AC running for it to not heat soak and keep the WTA coolant chilled My WTA coolant temps when just cruising is around 2°c
    • Hey Mark...sorry to interrupt your career change to hair dressing... but...did you ever fit the interchiller to the commodore, and if so how was it? And, who made it?
    • I've been pondering this, I really enjoy the convertible thing, for me, it's like riding a motorbike, without all the issue of riding a motorbike, mainly, my old sore arthritic joints getting beaten up, and, being able to do it in shorts and a T-shirt and not needing a helmet and all the other gear required, especially like wearing jackets and pants in the summer, or needing 6 layers of cloths in the winter, or not having wet weather gear handy when your 100km away from home on the bike when it decides to start raining As for the hard top and its Coupe look, whilst I do lose all that open top feeling that I really enjoy, from my experience with the NB with a detachable hard top, the cabin is a much nicer place to be, the difference in noise for one, a hard top quietens down the interior, alot, with the soft top up or down it's pretty noisy, which, after 5 or so hours, can get tiring But, as you stated, the detachable hard top totally changes the look of the car, in a really good way, and for me, the look of a detachable hard top is so much better than the PRHT which looks more like a after thought with its weird bulbous rear roof line For me, the minimal effort of putting in on, or storing it after removing it, is well worth the time and effort for the look alone And yes, I'm sure the next owner will be grateful for it as well.......
