just wanna warn all you guys out there with r32 gts-t's. i had mine for 8 weeks, done basic mods, gtr bar, bar and plate cooler, adjustable suspension etc, 3 inch mendrel from turbo back, but nuthn of that has any bearing to what im gunna warn about. doing 130km/h's hour down a backstreet, backed off to 110, slightly pressed brakes and the front right brake caliper locked up. pulled foot off brake and repressed to find both front calipers seizing, locked on completely. i hit a parked car at 80km/h, 66 metre skidmark. but after some inspections(im a qualified mechanic) found ALL FOUR pistons on both front calipers seized up and locking brakes on. went to Tony Rigoli Performance to chat to Rob Rigoi and apparently that is the 4th time he's heard of it happening.one was his brother! so boys, be careful eh. its a big loss in the end,

Cheers.

we just finished fitting a 3 inch mendrel system from the turbo back. opened it up to see the results. very impressed for a split second there, but........guess when you look at it, it kinda wasnt worth it :P

as for the brake upgrade, why?? 4 spot calipers are more then enough for the moment. its only a stocker fellas. all ive done is rebuild all 4 calipers, fitted slotted discs front and rear, and used EBC kevlar pads. should keep me happy for a bit.

Thats a horror story mate! I hope your ok after a hit like that. The Sumitomo 4 spot's are found on numerous cars, including the GTR and 300ZX so the problem could also occur in those models too.

Theyre a bloody good set of stoppers and i doubt most people would consider upgrading them to anything short of a set of AP Lockheeds. Unless your doing trackwork there isnt much point really eh? :P

Anyway, that story is enough for me to get my brakes checked out!

The same brand of callipers can be found on subaru's, except the new sti's with the brembo's, toyota landcruiser and hilux's, the 200sx range, and pretty much any manufacturer who realeases a car with 4 pots as standard, sumitomo do a lot of OEM supplies..
