13.4 second 1/4 for your 'stockish' R33. (A how to guide).

the 255's let down to allow side wall flex would do the 225's in over the 60ft. If we are talking the same rubber compound/tyre.

The inflation of 36psi will put the 255s at some disadvantage Vs 15psi. Then again 15psi might be too low if you are talking street tyres (not nitto's or mt's).

If the tyres are the same rubber/compound, then the tyres with less pressure will give you the most traction. Width of tyres does make a difference but not as much as pressure. A 355 trye at 30psi has the same contact area on the tarmac as a 195 tyre at 30psi. The contact area is determined by the weight on the tyre and it's pressure. So with the 16"s there is more sidewall to flex, given that the compund is the same over the 2, I think the 225 on 15psi qould be your better bet.

Atmospheric BOV`s might help more air to pass, but, having an Air Flow meter equipped car you confuse the ECU and undo any bennifits you could achieve.

I would recommend using a GREDDY plum back style, Which flows 2-3 times the air. It might not sound as good as the standard , but, the truth of the matter is the more restrictive your BOV is the louder it is.

Or you can get away with an atmospheric type when using a S-AFC as this is equipped with a function that momentarily sends a preset A/F meter signal to the ECU when the BOV is venting. No more kneecapping flames !

Agreements - Disagreements ?

boostd,

I'm not a fan of the aftermarket BOV on a stock turbo. Experience shows me they are often a step backwards in performance.

It is a superficial mod. It is totally unnecessary in the pursuit of a 13.4 second 1/4mile.

Flywheel questions

After the new flywheel went in did you notice an increase in fuel consumption? Also when crusing around town does the car tend to slow down more quickly when you back off the accelerator (ie feels like your towing a small trailer up a hill)?

I can see how a light weight flywheel would make the car go faster but how practical is it to do for a daily driver??

If you have this problem make sure you get a full exhaust system, deffinetly makes it a smoother ride (also better midrange power).

Benm: Dude wat are u talkin about. This has nothin to do with exhausts, the fact that he has a lightened flywheel means the car will rev quicker hence will also drop revs quicker aswell. It may give the feelin that the car is slowing quicker to some.

As i said, with a full exhaust system the engine will breath easier and wont 'slow down' as much when off the accelerator, its 1 of the first things i noticed when swapping my stock dump/front pipe to a 3" custom.

the lightened flywheel will decrease the time it takes for the engine to speed up or slow down (to a far lesser degree).

I have one of the lightest flywheels around @4.8kg and it's nothing but a pleasure to drive in traffic. My entire car is based on being 'comfortable' over long distances and in heavy traffic for long periods.

Many a slow-ass-know-little will tell you that the lightened flywheel is this or that and poo poo. Kick them in the head and move on, if it's your friend then kick them softly in the head.

lol. This was actually a guy who claimed to be a race mechanic at an autobarn store?? Some of the stuff he said made sense.... but he denied the existance of the boost solenoid on R33s tho, said something about the second cam kicking in at 4700.

nigasnt

Yeah i know... he also said something about his uncle being on the 32GTR bathurst team??? Thats when he lost me.

Altho some of the stuff he was saying made heaps of sense... prolly coz i aint know shite...
