I'm pretty keen to do this, just one question though. Is it better to lock the back up with a lock bar, or with the washers (in weight saving, and strength). I'm guessing that the washers will be fine, just wanted to double check though.

I found a HICAS ECU pinout, and wire 20 is the warning lamp, so if you cut that, it should save pulling the dash out.

ok so this is a dumb question :)

there are 2 ECU's. the normal engine ECU and the HICAS ECU - is that correct?

im going to install a lockbar in my HCR32 and then loop the pipes as SK suggested.

so here is the dumb question: if the hicas is removed do we still need the hicas ECU at all?

You do not need the hicas computer after locking hicas and taking it out means saving a tiny bit more dead weight and ensuring the hicas warning light doesn't come on, but if you take it out, steering goes heavy (apparently it doesn't for some people, but it did for me and all of my friends). You can fix this by leaving the computer in and cutting the wire that sends the warning signal to turn on the hicas light.

Here is my guide that I wrote when I locked my hicas
