A long front bench with steel table top and tool wall.Or a lrge roller tool chest.

Compressor,and,wind up hose on the wall .Welder/oxy.

Sheet metal bender.

Lock up cabinets dynabolted to the floor.

Head room for roof storage.

Nuts,bolts,rivets,clamps,electrical connectors ra ra ra,all in slide trays under the first level of the bench.

Pit.

Fire extinguisher.

The garage:Small Sink,bar,Fridge and tap (no not beer tap) Sigh i hear him say.And a drainage mote' arround the garage

Most of all you need room to swing so the bigger the better.

Restating what everyone has said, but at the very least, make sure your floor is painted a lightish colour with some kind of protectant so its easy to clean up spills, and generally easy to keep clean/sweep plus if you drop some small part its easy to find on a clean floor.

Also at the very least ensure you have enough space to pop the bonnet. In mine, the roller door machine gets in the way, so make sure you have that covered.

Good ventilation is a good idea. Don't want to loose a brother cos he couldnt breathe!
