I have always wondered why Xedes are not more popular for use on Skylines. Theer technical specs look impressive. They pop up on every other Foulcan Tubbo, but I can't say as I have everr seen one on a Skyline.

Does anyone have any idea why this may be the case?

Is it simply lack of promotion to Skyline owners?

Or is there some technical deficiency?

Maybe the price?

:) cheers :)

The Xede is a really nice peice of hardware and can bend any input you can throw at it. it would be a really nice product if it was around $500.

But the reason i dont think it is so popular is for the $900 odd pricetag, a PFC, wolf V4 or a number of ECU's can nearly be had.

I have seen one on an XR6T controlling ignition, fuel map and a methanol spray kit. they are a great product but for skylines they are entering a saturated market.

:P

I thought that $cost may be the problem, but I see EManages on Skylines and they cost similar to the Xede. Is it because it isn't Japanese?

:( cheers :D

I think that has something to do with it.

Also as you said, its all about education. Seeming as most skyliners prefer jap performance, they will buy jap products. Better the devil you know sort of logic.

I am sure with some more exposure the Xede will find it's way into many skylines, especially when the price goes down.

We are having problems with the nissan crank angle sensor. But I think also that the market for the xede on skylines just wasn't there. However I have been talking to my boss the technical director of the xede and he said if it can generate enough interest with the nissans then he would go ahead and develop it. What do you guys reckon?

The 350z is a 36 minus 1 I think. We started with the 6-5-4-3-2-1 CAS signal and never followed it up. If there is enough interest, who knows. The xede doesn't drive the coils directly like the emanage. However I heard of several damaged coils in skylines with emanage.

The xede is a very proficient boost controller. With the fords we use the output of two maps to determine what wastegate DC is. For example a Wastegate DC vs Map vs RPM and a Wastegate DC vs TPS vs RPM. Its semi closed loop boost control. The xede also has a switch that can change entire maps on the fly. The list just goes on and on.

keep the info coming the more info the better

us consumers need a range to select from from the most basic to the most advanced

the more we have to choose from the harder the aftermarket tries to compete

therefor the consumer is offered a better priced better functioning unit

we have to select from

my 2 bob anyway

It is a piggyback unit.  http://www.xede.com.au/  Its alot more functional as you can choose the map axis and also use multiple map for complex functions.  If you want more info just let me know and I'll get the xede training day presentation.

Hi Rob,

Hell yes please, this is too good an offer. can you send to [email protected]

And to answer this question...

As long as it comes with a gun tuner we can proceed.

Kind regards

How about closed loop fueling - as in tuning the car under full load as well as partial throttle. What we do is feed the input of a wideband 02 sensor and alter the MAF signal to get a desired AFR. That means instant tuning as you drive down the road.

My boss is in the states at the moment experimenting with knock sensor tuning as well. You basically feed the knock sensor signal in and trim either side of a detonation event. The biggest thing is being able to clamp the output of the knock snsor on the rev limiter as the occurence of knock at the rev limit is high. It has been found that up 25 to 30 ft.lb more torque on the gear change in an EV08 - which is a shitload.
