rb26 runs hotter

how are you measuring temperature. are you referring to oil temp or water temp ?

Stock oil temp should be around the 80-90 degree mark depending on what you are doing, and water temp is usually between 82-85 degrees

oh k thats great to know, the oil temp gauage is a lil above half way and water temp looks normal. It just seems wierd that the engine bay is so hot still even after like almost 2 hours...

not to scare you but the standard guage at exacly half way is about 100 degrees.

when i got mine ih had some funny jap writing on a piece of paper taped to the center console. i got it of the towtruck from the docks and the battery was flat so i jumped it and let it idle to charge it up and only knew there was a problem when there was steam pissing evry ware. :D

just give it a good bleed. fill it up and undo the bleeder till it dribbles out

you may have to poke a pin in the bleeder hole to move the scale. :D

Oil temp gauge should be about 80-90 degrees max. if its halfway its at about the 110-120 degree mark which is way too high ?

Not sure what you should do. Sorry ?

yeh i jus had it out tonight, it seems the oil temp gauage is broken just above half way but it deff is running hot cuz wen i get it home it stays hot for a very long period of time but anywayz i will give my mechanic a call 2morrow.

thanks for your help, ElBoRo.

My car stays hot almost 3/4 of the day, it never cools down quickly UNLESS its a 10degree day.

Feel isn't a good way of telling... First the temp guages, then if it is too hot you will most definitely smell it.

If its running too hot you will also hear the overflow bottle bubble violently a few seconds after you turn the car off, it also may loose coolant from the overflow bottle. If it is doing this then it is getting too hot, I would first look at the clutch fan, thermostat (while you are there check the waterpump), then radiator.

The stock guage reads half from ~72degree's right up to just over 100degree's. Then it quickly climbs to H.

Ive also recently bought an 89 GTR and i am having the same problem where it gets so hot you can't even touch the strut towers. After i turn it off you can hear the top rad hose bubbling out of the head. I just fitted an alloy radiator as some fool had put in a single core gts-t one before i bought it. But unfortunatly it still seems to run hot and oil temp gets half way. All the heat causes the oil to thin out and oil pressure drops to about 20psi at idle. I am going to try taking out the thermostat to see if this helps

My water temp is always around 78-88c and oil is always under 90c. First thing I do when I park it in the garage is pop the bonnet and put the turbo timer on 2mins just to circulate the under-bonnet air.

why would you want to take your thermostate out ? its there to slow the water down so it dosent pass thru the raditor to fast and gets a chance to cool down if you take it out the water will pass to quickly thru the rad and wont cool down .maybe buy a new thermostat but dont run without one

AS T04GTR STATED!

very important to make sure it is bled up correctly as this can be the issue, also gtr fans sound very loud when they are working correctly so you will easily here it, if they are not coming in at low speed your engine will run hot.

mine shit itself, changed to twin thermo fans.

cheers Russ

yeh, i have since got another R32 GTR and have found that it is exactly the same as the one i was talking about before, its totally normal for GTR32's to run hot, i think its becuase there is so much shit in that engine bay, Nissan should have put the battery in the back like the R33 and maybe even put the ABS stuff somewhere else, but yeh its normal for it to run hot. My oil temp sits around 70 on a normal day, and about 85 or 90 on a hot day, had it to about 100 i think once when i was really pushing it hard for ages. but now my clutch is screwed lol. and when i turn it off, the engine bay stays hot for agesssss. but i have never heard that bubbling sound :P
