Scrote City...Watch yourself and you car.

Recommended Posts

Well I just had a unpleasant experience.

Sitting at the computer checking the forums at about 1:30am I look over and notice the side flywire door is open a bit. Remembering I had just gone out about 5mins ago and put some cans in the recycling bin I thought it was a bit strange for me to leave the door open. I get up and go to close the door but for some reason my spidey sense is tingling and I step outside. As soon as my first foor hits the pavement outside the door an almighty bang and flash goes off, I'm like WTF then I notice a shadow at the drivers side door of my GTR on the other side of the fence. I move towards the fence and the shadow moves, I say "You right C*NT?!!!" and the guy standing next to my car on the other side of the fence bolts up the driveway and onto the road. Because of the locked gate I have to go inside and out the front door to catch up to the scrote but by the time I have grabbed my burglar 'pacifier' he's bolting down the street albeit without shoes which are on the road 2 houses up the street from my house.

I grab his shoes (which are nikes by the way) and continue up the street a bit before giving up and going home.

I then go around the side (after checking the car of course :)) and notice that the c*nt had thrown a dirty great big firecracker at me the moment I walked out the door (hence the big bang and flash) in order to either injure me or scare me into not following him. This thing has blown a hole in some garden pots made of strong plastic 2-3mm thick, I can only imagine what would've happened if he had hit me!

Looking at the evidence this guy jumped our side fence, cut a length of the flywire door in order to undo the lock I had put on it after putting the cans in the recycling bin, then walzed on it and started to look for my keys and any easy cash. He couldn't get my keys but he got an old purse of Mum's that only had old cards in it (her buglar decoy ;)) and then gone outside and thrown the useless purse away when he heard me coming into the family room. He's then jumped back over the side fence and thrown the firecracker at me as I come outside, waiting by my car to watch the mayhem.

As it happens I was in hero mood so the effect that the firecracker could've had on my body was only realised after I had finished chasing him and seen the damage to the pots.

Anyway to finish off I call the police and after they take the details and the shoes :) they leave promising to do some patrols but not expecting much.

And I get to spend the rest of the wee hours of the morning in the loungeroom waiting to see if he returns to collect his shoes. ;)

Looking out for barefoot, firecracker hurling lowlifes....

Rhino :(

I recently invested in a new little 'toy', a tricked out Sonic auto****er paintball marker for 1 purpose only. Ever been hit by a paintball going 500fps?, thats almost twice the speed a paintball on the feilds goes (290fps), guarenteed to criple any ****er trying to get into my car :P

I also have a sensor above my car, and its locked behind a garage door. but still I dont feel that its safe.

Good to hear that the car & you are fine.

memphis,

Good to see someone taking the vigilante approach, haha. If you hit them with that they will probably think that they are going to die, would teach them a serious lesson, not that I condone this sort of behaviour.

Cheers guys, the cops alluded to this sort of practise (not the firecracker bit) becoming very common. They also said that owning a car like ours is asking for trouble, what a sad sad world :)

This was in Willetton.

There was no way he was going to get my car as the keys are either on my person or within a foot of where I sleep at all times and the spares are very well hidden.

I'm just annoyed that this sort of incident ill probably never be resolved by the police.

No, don't expect that the police will do much, there probably isn't much to go on anyway. Best to beef up security a bit, I'm thinking of rigging and alarm to my sensor light, so it wakes me if it goes off in the middle of the night.

It sucks that us and our cars aren't safe.

Eeek! I'm in Willetton. My neighbour's car was broken in just the other day (no grace or attempts to be quiet here - they just smashed the driver's side window!) and now I'm all paranoid, esp. with reports of that kinda thing going on. Grrrrr...

I am not worried about the car anymore as I have just implemented some more security measures that ensure that even if some crook gets the keys and alarm remote the car aint going anywhere except on the back of a flatbed truck.

I am more worried that he wanted the car soo much that he was prepared to break into an occupied house at night to get it. These situations can escallate very quickly.

THINK they are gonna die? hehe. I will keep going till they are dead if they hurt my car.

Although I am currently looking for a new alarm for my car, I just got called home this morning cos someone broke into my house and stole my car stereo that I removed from my old car, they left the big screen tv, dvd player etc and took my car stereo!

Scares the hell outta ya.

It's rediculous the lengths we have to go to to protect our property. If there were tougher penalties, like death, then we wouldn't have these issues. Has any ever used a kill switch in there car, so that no matter what the crook ain't going no where?

Yeah.... There is nothiing the little b@rst@rds wont do these days.... About two years ago when I owned my VL turbo I woke up one morning to find my car broken into, stereo stolen and whole steering column stripped down ( good thing I invested in very good alarm ) and the car is parked right up against the house... I was furious....

After that my mothers VS commodore was ALWAYS parked behind my car to avoid it being stolen in the future ( You need the key to start )....

Two weeks later... 4am .... We are woken up by the sound of my mums car alarm going off.....dad looked out the window to find a guy getting into it, he chased them from the front door and they just took off in my mums car.... I got in my car and pursued, but by the time I got a couple of streets away after them I just found my mums car dumped on the side of the road...

Basically they came round the back of our house, broke in the back door.... went through to the kitchen, took the keys to my mums car and everything else of value they could find... went back around to the front, were in the process of moving my mums car with the keys ( luckily he didnt turn the alarm off first though ) when the botched it and set the alarm off, in order to move my mums car to try to steal mine for a second time..... There were about three of them too, they had a get away car across the road.... very organised.... I was just lucky they botched moving my mums car....

Needless to say our security at hoime now reseamble Fort Knox.... I am also another person who refuses to sleep more than a metre away from my keys....

    • I know this one’s the BB one. My tuner did make mention about the actuator. I am curious about the VCT as well
    • Might also needs a stronger actuator with the right preloading. With older 2019 built bush G3 units, BB upgrade or 21U housing down size makes a pretty decent gain in response as well.
    • Hey lads  so im finally putting together my rb30 forged bottom end and ran into an issue. I measured my main bearing clearance with arp main studs torqued to 60 ft-lbs using ACL H series STD size bearings and standard, un-ground crank shaft journals and got an oil clearance reading of about 1.3 thou measuring straight up and down and about 2.8 thou measuring at a 45 degree angle (just above and below the parting line). My machine shop said they measured the main tunnel and it was all within spec (they didnt say the actual measurement) and to go with a standard size bearing, which i have done and the clearance is too tight, I'm guessing because of the extra clamping force from the arp studs distorting the main tunnel. I was wanting to run about 2.5 thou main bearing clearance.  My questions are: 1. could i just use the HX extra 1 thou clearance ACL bearings? that would fix my straight up and down clearance making it about 2.3 thou, but then would the side to side clearance be too big at around 3.8 thou? 2. what actually is the recommended main bearing clearance for measuring near the parting line / side to side. i know its supposed to be bigger as the bearing has some eccentricity built into it but how much more clearance should there be compared to the straight up and down measurement? at the moment there is about 1.5thou difference, is that acceptable or should it be less? 3. If i took the engine block + girdle back to the machine shop and got them to line bore the main tunnel (like i told them to do the first time, but they said it didnt need it) what bearing size would i buy? the STD size bearing shells already slide in fairly easily with no real resistance, some even falling out if i tip the girdle up-side-down. If im taking material out of the main tunnel would i need a bearing with extra material on the back side to make up for it? this is probably confusing af to read so if something doesn't make sense let me know and ill try explaining in a different way. My machine shop doesn't come back from christmas break until mid January, hence why i'm asking these questions here. TIA for any help or info
    • I bought the model back in Japan in Feb. I realised I could never build it, looked around for people who could build it, turns out there's some very skilled people out there that will make copies of 1:1 cars or near enough. I'm not really a photo guy... but people were dragging me in a group chat for the choice of bumper as someone else saw the car before it was finished as they are also a customer of that shop. I took the photo in the above post because I was pretty confident that the lip would work wonders for it. Here's some more in-progress and almost-done pics. It gives a good enough idea as to what the rear looks like!   I have also booked in a track day at the end of January. Lets all hope that is nothing but pure fun and games. If it's not pure fun and games, well, I've already got half an engine spare in the cupboard
    • Well, do ya, punk? Seriously though, let's fu<king go! The colour and kit looks amazing on the car. Do you have any shots from the rear? I don't quite follow how the model came around. You bought the white kit and he modified it to match your car? Looks nuts either way!
