hey guys. i am building my own stainless exhaust for the R32 GTR and i have bought a new high flow cat as well. what is the sensor thingy that is attached to the factory cat? at first i thought it was the o2 sensor but now i am not so sure. i am sure that i have read about people just disconnecting the sensor without any problems. i asked at a exhaust shop and he was telling me i needed it but wouldnt say what it was for. sounded like he was trying to get me to pay him to do it instead of me doing it myself.

so guys , whats it for ? and do i need to keep it?

It's a temperature sensor, all it does is switch on the cat overheat light on the dash if the cat gets too hot. The sensor isn't connected to the ecu so it will not affect the performance of the car in any way if you leave it off.
