ok i am in the market to get a r32 gtr and i am a noob about cars and skylines and the price seems to be going around 22000 or so for a decent one. many of these cars have only got around 70000km on the odometer and it seems quite unlikely since it has been around for about 15 years. how can i know if the kms are real?

also is there anything in particular i need to look out for in these cars i really have no idea so maybe i should take it to a proper mechanic to get it checked out and so does anyone have an idea on where is a good place in sydney?

i am curious about the engine. so this is the rb26det is that correct? and that would be the same as the one on the r33 and r34 gtr so is there any difference between these engines and does that mean that they are just as quick as each other?

thanks for the help.

Hey mate,

Nice choice there.

Firstly, this topic has been covered a solid 6-7 times in the last few weeks, so try searching.

Here's one link:

Plenty more.

Best way to tell kms is by the condition of the interior, MOST Skylines have been wound back sometime in their lives, but so long as the condition of a vehcile is good, kms shouldnt bother you.

Make sure you get the car fully checked out by a performance mechanic before you buy it, particulalry the standard engine checks (compression/leak down tests.) They are not cheap to fix or maintain.

Essentially the engines are the same, but obviously more refined and better developed the newer the generation of engine.

And yes, all three are just about as quick as each other, in a straight line (R32 being the quickest, followed by R34, then R32) On the track, the newer the car the better it will perform. :

Hope this helps, try a search for more info.
