I had a great day thanks to SAU Qld for a well run cruise. Special thanks to Erin you did a grand job. At least the weather held out untill the end, I was lucky to miss the worst of it.

On the Ipswich motorway I set the cruise ctrl and about 3 bends before the tolls I hit a puddle (no rain) looked like just wet tarmac but aquaplaned me sideways for awhile, scary stuff. lucky there was no traffic.

Thanks to all you guys and girls for turning up and making this such a worthwhile event to run. Makes the cutting of 5 kilos of onions worth while :)

The official tally so far for funds raised at todays events totals $2500. Awesome effort guys! Special thanks to Giant from the forums for his personal contribution of $500 and a matching of that contribution with another $500 from his business RGM Maintenance Pty Ltd, making that a total donation of $1000 from one person!

Outstanding efforts guys! I'll be donating this money in person again at the RCH on Friday morning, so keep an ear out on B105 friday morning around 8am for the donation to be made :D

If all of you's had of hung around at the dam for an extra 30 or so minutes, you would have all missed the storms/rain and driven through some huge puddles that were heaps of fun!!

Once again, thanks to everyone that participated and made this event worthwhile yet again..

PS: I would like to apologise to the familes who's children heard my speech at Aspley car park, but unfortunately, those things have to be said so the idiotic behaviour is kept to a minimum.

Damn that was a fun day, i had a ball apart from my car playing up, and have a great truckie tan on my right arm from driving. I have to say i am amazed at the friendlyness of the people that came, not one single person was unpleasant wich is a far cry to what i am used to on the sunny coast (excluding all the skyline lads and a few others, you know where ya's are :):D). I cant wait for another outing like this, was a real pleasure meeting people in person.

Here's my 32 dwaffed by the r33 and r34 haha.

Erin thanks for organising the day, with help I am sure.

Sorry I left before you all left Aspley, I had family arrangements that were unavoidable.

I did however, stand along Albany Creek Rd and watch you all go past!!!!

Awesome sight, not to mention the Red Monaro Highway Patrol that followed...

The whole thing was pretty good for the size of the cruise. Just 2 things we might have to implement for the next one.

** workshops that brings car to advertise there ware should contribute a sizable donation and in return, get to set up table and hand out promotional brochures at designated points.

** ppls need to wear a tag of their nick, as I got tire, after the 100 time I asked ppls what their nick is after talking to them for 5 mins.

just a thought.

I dont think any worksops brought along any demo cars tbh?

none that i noted?

mick

hahaha

lol

:D

exactly my point. i own my car not the workshop. i dont work there, i just agree to put stickers on it as does willo :)

:(

anyyyway, awesome day.

keep all the pics coming!

mick

Well, yesterday was fantastic. We had an awesome time. Some of those views after the turn-off to somerset dam were incredible :D

Thanks must go to everyone who joined in to help (ESPECIALLY ERIN for organising the whole thing!). Can't wait for the next one now :)

Anna

Awesome day, a huge thanks to Andrew, Dave, James etc for their efforts, they are most definitely appreciated. A special thanks to Erin too for being the driving force (excuse the pun :( ) behind the whole day and doing so much of the behind-the-scenes stuff that makes a day like this go as smoothly as it did.

AND... I believe this cruise lets us reclaim the throne to the BIGGEST SKYLINE MEET IN THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE, beating the previous best of 99 which (if memory serves) was set by SAU NSW. Good effort people :P

Great day! awesome amount of funds raised and a great drive.

Luckily I went the back way to the goldcoast, so missed the worst of the storms, but it also cut off part of the fun too :(

Overall went pretty well.. only disappointing thing was to see every hero do a burnout as they left though in a public park <_<

THANKS FOR A GREAT DAY GUYS!!

I was amazed at the good sensible driving displayed.

I had a great day, very well run, just wish i had stayed at the dam and missed the storm. (also had to take care of the other gtr that shit a turbo)

i thought it was a great thing to be part of, and it meant a fair bit to me as i have a three week old boy!! :(

well done Erin and co.!! good job

Hope to see some of you wednesday.

Cheers Russell

There was one following us? Those 2 police cars at aspley musta got scared and called in the big boys!

So what was the total car count in the end anyone know?

Well I lost count around the 80's as people went past...I was almost in tears laughing at you all trying to leave the Hyperhole...

Oh and yes he was following you...from a mate I think he kep going along Old Northern Road though, this one is based in Strathpine...

Thanks guys for a great day (Think i'v heard that before :( )

All you guys insist on living in Brisbane and the Gold Coast ie Storm Central. Come live up the Sunshine coast as its named that for a reason :) We cruised back from the dam through Peachester with Sunny weather and minimal cars only had to overtake a couple of 'sunday drivers'. Sorry to the car Red R33 GTSt behind me as we overtook a sunday driver, I hope my flames didn't scorch your paint work :P:D:D

Thanks again guys & gals, got some good pics.

Who was the mad bugger lying on the sweeping right hander coming up the range with a dam big camera? He would have some crackers if he's still alive :D

See you all next time

    • Can you log IAT? Whilst WTA coolers have their place, doing any sort of sustained run is not one of them There are fixes that slow down the heat soak, like ice boxes, which don't last that long, and interchillers, which are fairly expensive, up grades to the WTA cooling radiator, which may require a bigger pump, and upgrades to the reservoir size,  and upgrades to the cooling fans, but, it all still heat soaks, and takes ages to come down in hot weather  For a turbo, that isn't locked into WTA like my PD blower is, can you not possibly swap to a nice air to air intercooler????, it would be better for sustained runs then, and have alot less things that could go wrong in my opinion
    • So, the other thing I've sorted is a baseline dyno run up at Unigroup's new location. The auto trans was a little unco-operative by both shifting down when the throttle was floored on the dyno (so Mark had to ramp it up more slowly than in a manual) and also by shifting up at 6,000 even in sports mode instead of the indicated redline of 7,000 Still, on a hot day it made 240rwkw at 16psi which seems about right for 300kw (400hp) through an auto at the wheels.  The shape of the curve is not quite right because it was not full throttle to about 4,500 to stop it kicking down, but until I can get a tune on the auto trans control this was the best we could do.....full boost will be well below 5,000 once that is sorted, I'll get some data logs when I can to confirm For comparison, the R32 made 255 at 12psi (at 4,500) on the same dyno with tune, n1 turbos, cam gears, big exhaust but otherwise all standard so the v37 is likely a little better out of the box. One thing that is very clear is that the standard water to air intercoolers are not up to sustained use at full throttle in warm ambient temps. After about 5 runs (so only a few minutes full throttle), it was pulling boost and timing and dropping 10-15% power. Unfortunately I didn't get that printout and the Unigroup guys are away at the moment, will try and get hold of it on their return. So, looks like a healthy engine to start modifying and the only real area of concern is the w2a heat exchangers which the aftermarket has plenty of solutions for
    • I maintain it actually looked really nice in person. So much so that I thought "No, this is illegal" but there it was, clear as day. I think we can easily call the wing and wheels/height to be transformative. Not saying it's better than the GR Whatever, or the 86, or the WRX STI or anything of that sort (the internet says it all bolts up so you can buy best of all worlds?) but it's still at least a thing and not nearly AS bad as people say.
    • That's less offensive than the previous gen.....except for all that ugly black tupperware around the edges. Blerck!
    • I leant out the window recently and took a picture of this new WRX. It looked real damn fine in person. It's faster around a track (stock) than a (stock) GR Yaris. It's much more practical despite being heavier. It's significantly cheaper. This gen tunes really well, much better than others. .... I think they're probably a lot better than people expect.
