Cam adjustment done.

That looks much better. You said you didn't have too much trouble with drive-ability before. Can you feel the difference on the road?

It's got twice the horsepower at 4500rpm! That would be a massive difference

Hi. Yes it drive better, feel faster again. But still room to improve:)  response feel like N1s on 2.6, but a lot more power.

Original setup made 354rwk @ 24-25psi.

  • Haltech Platinum Pro
  • N1 manifolds
  • -9s
  • HPI dumps and 3" front pipes
  • Full 3.5" exhaust after merge, catless
  • Big K&N pods in partial enclosure.
  • E85 with 1000cc Injectors and 460lph walbro.
  • Cam gears,
  • Twin turbo pipe mod
  • Plazmaman 76mm Intercooler

Added/changed.

  • BC Springs
  • Kelford L182A Cams
  • Delete pressure valve in fuel line in tank.
  • Aeroflow fuel filter.
  • Rewired fuel pump with higher gauge wire after realising the current wiring was 15amp max and the pump can draw into the mid 20s.

Fuel mods done as fuel pressure couldn't keep up.

Now peaks at 23-24psi but tapers off to 21ish. I think these turbos are out of puff now, but not a bad result for -9s. Pretty happy given the bay looks fairly low key.

Sorry missed that.

Maybe someone else can comment, is a 2.8 and Cams enough to get that number? I'm assuming they're Type B's so around 264 duration.

19psi is not a lot of airflow from N1s.

Must be nice to drive :)

I don't know which cams they are, when the car was listed for sale in Japan. It stated tomei 2.8l stroker kit with tomei poncams with cams gears. Though the tomei ecu causes the afr to drop into the 10s underfull boost. Going to switch to a platinum pro. I expected quicker spool with the N1s, might get better numbers with timing adjustment.

92 GTR
RB26 Stock bottom end
HKS 2530's, divorced dumps
Trust Intercooler
3.5" exhaust, SARD high flow cat
Nismo 555cc injectors I think
Stock cam gears
Unknown fuel pump but definitely not stock
Unknown oil pump (but more pressure than stock)
HKS EVC @ 1.3 bar
HKS FCON V

This is how the car came to be, off the boat from Japan.  It made 400 WHP in AWD mode on a Dyno Dynamics dyno.  The idle AFR was 10's so I knew I needed to get it re-tuned as this is my daily driver.

RECOMMENDATIONS?

Since that dyno, I picked up a Haltech Platinum Pro PNP, removed the HKS EVC and bought a MAC valve.  None of that has been installed yet.  I'm not looking for huge power but I do want it to be fun and reliable enough to take to the occasional track day.  The age of the current injectors and fuel pump are unknown.  Originally I wasn't looking for more power.  400 is fun enough, just wanted to fix that fat idle mixture.  A local tuner suggested Fuel Injector Development 630cc injectors ($375 USD) and a new pump but I'm more inclined to spend that on adjustable cam gears for more responsive low end if my current injectors and pump are sufficient.  If I did new injectors and pump, what's a good drop in solution? Other thoughts?

New results now that I'm on E85.

2.75L stock bore (86mm) BC stroker (79mm stroke).

BC SS valves, valve guides, retainers, springs

Tomei Poncam A's

Hypertune V2 intake

6 boost manifold for IWG Borg Warner 8374 EFR turbo .92 IWG on turbosmart actuator

ported head

ID 1300x injectors (nearly maxxed)

2x 460 walbro fuel pumps with 3rd as a lift pump to the sump

ECU masters EMU black

LS2 DBW TB

the low 7xx runs are 26 psi tapering to around 24

the 740 run is 30 psi tapering to around 24-25.

I have added 5th gear spoolup log because this is an inertia dyno and falsely makes this setup seem laggy.

boost is all in at 3800 usually in 3rd gear.

Now for the crazy stuf...STOCK intercooler, STOCK trans, 3" exhaust.

US HP?

US HP?
Sure. Stock cadillac ctsv makes 485 whp on this dyno. Stock focus RS mashes 318 whp on this dyno.

But it's inertia so mine looks like it spools late. I also live AT sea level. Was like 5 C in shop that night so cold dense air.

    • @soviet_merlin Thanks mate!  Nothing too major but will hold me up for a while. I've got lymphomas to get taken off the back of my neck and the middle of my spine which always conjures scary thoughts!  It sounds worse than it is. Yeah great, conjuring more rabbit hole deepening , just what I need! 🤣
    • I'd argue the F50 kit I got is very good value. For ~2k I got the calipers (refurbed condition), adapters, pads, brake lines, rotors, and top hats. I think you'd be pretty hard to get Evo/GTR/350z brembos + the additional hardware for similar money. Used market for a pair of front calipers alone I've seen tend to run anywhere from $1500-2000 depending on condition.    That said, something like a GTR or 350z brembo is a lot easier to adapt to the Silvia.
    • Is there a significant price difference between the Evo/gtr/350z brembos vs the F50? Looks amazing.
    • I was actually being a tightarse at the time LOL... My OCD is tickling me into running a 2nd 8AN Teflon hose all the way down and removing the 2x OEM hardlines. My other side of my brain is telling me to run 2x hardlines front to back (also acts as a fuel cooler, so win win).
    • As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had some trouble with the Silvia's brakes dragging back in 2023. I managed to sort it out then, but the same problem came back to bite me late last year. Just take a look at the picture – I had a feeling the handbrake was acting up again, and I was right. Anyway, I'd been wanting to upgrade to bigger brakes for a while. Not that the Silvia's brakes were bad, but it was more of a "want" than a "need", you know? It was funny, though – at the time, I couldn't find any Evo Brembos, 350Z Brembos, or GTR Brembos for a decent price (of course, tons of them popped up online after I already bought my kit!). I ended up going with an F50 Brembo kit, which came with adapters, brake lines, 330mm rotors, and top hats. The F50 Brembo caliper was used in a few other cars too, like the FPV. I also decided this was the perfect opportunity to ditch the Silvia's ridiculous rear brakes and that awful handbrake (some of you were definitely right about that!). I picked up some R33 calipers and all the necessary bits – rear drums, backing plates, and new hardware to refurbish the calipers. Of course, it wouldn't be a project without a few hiccups. Turns out the brake master cylinder was playing up and basically (to put it simply) keeping the brakes engaged. I had it overhauled, and after some adjustments, everything was working again. The whole process took a while, as you can imagine. To top it off, the front right wheel bearings were shot and needed replacing too. This is a rare occasion where I'm posting an update while it's all still fresh! These pictures were taken just this afternoon.
