Sir D, I totally agree with you on that one. for some reason, nissan feels that the reflectors are better than projectors. For halogen lighting, they might very well be right.

All the r32s/s14/s13 with the projectors have absolutely shit light output. The r33 reflectors actually have pretty good light output compared to the r32 ones.

PS: My gtr lights are almost here. woohhooo. then comes the hardbit - trying to fit them. I might have an excuse to get gtr front bar, bonnet and possibly even guards just to fit these lights on.

lol

yeah I reckon my halogens light up the road nicely but they just look very old. and u are right, i think Nissan felt let down by projectors... but then why did they release S3 GTR with projectors and charge 2 grand for it??

its crazy how there is no one making aftermarket projectors for R33s... Holden has monaro and SS projecotrs available for like 300 bucks... why doesnt skyline have them for R33s??

I changed my name, but it's still me.

the reason is, because they are HID. a HID globe is almost 300% as bright as a halogen. So even though relative to a reflector, the light may be less/same whatever, they an agfford to lose some light for the more accurate cutoff.

Actually think of Mercs... they have only had projectors for like what? 3-4 years tops? Wtf? They are like a pinacle of German cars! While BMW have had projectors since late 80s!!!

just wondering where can i get the honda euro projectors???

i'm going to do a retrofit too...

shit it's been a while since I've had a look in this thread...

now everyone's on the retro for R32s :ninja: nice work more the merrier!

mine are all sealed up but not on the car yet - still in the paint shop...

if anyone wants some euro projectors I have a few pairs that I've collected for mates' cars... but CBF doing them lol

Ronin, we need more pics of your headlight.

yours look great!

the headlights you're using are the newer model to mine... the plastic surround is slightly different...

I will get some pics when they're on the car (hopefully soon!)

well done! :)

how are you going to seal off the back?

also would you mind getting a pic of the way you secured the projector to the bracket?

thanks!

i thought yours was newer than mine, since you got a clear lense that goes over the plastic surround.

i used a rubber from under the shifter boot from an old honda car. I cutted to fit the hole.

i have done a DIY thread in this website, you can check out all the pictures.

thanks for your post, it was very helpful to do my retrofit. :P

Mine are nearly finished as well. The euro projectors fit nicely into the nissan support. I was lucky enough to just drill & screw them all together without using JB Weld.

What I need now is the glue to reseal the headlight glass to the plastic body, essendon nissan doesn't have it, & a headlight repairer wants

$110 for each headlight to reseall them, I smell a ripoff .....

Does anyone know where I can get this glue from ???

ooo... ooo... how much? i'm VERY keen to get some projectors into my R34. Everytime i see the euro's driving around at night..... damn!!! best lights ever!! this massively wide arc, and such a sharp cutoff you can see the marks in the fences and trees after they've driven past, burnt... straight through.... awesome :P

Mine are made from 2 sets of Audi A6 Bi-Xenon headlights (projectors/Ballasts etc).

As for cost, that's all I paid for, the rest was just my own labour - so it would depend how much you could source the Audi light for?

    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
