It takes 24hrs to reset a RB series ecu. I did that with both of my '97 R33 and '88 VL and they both seem to be quite good afterwards. The reason for unpluggin ya battery for 24hrs is so that the ECU gets cleaned out of old habits, some mechanics even says that the RB ecu are too smart for their good and learns to mis-behave after a while, especially when ya AFM or O2 sensors starts to play up. So this is a good procedure after installing a new AFM or O2 sensor.
