Just wonderin to those whom have changed their shocks. What band and model are you using? Coilovers? How's the feel of it? Cause i'm lookin into a set of konis or bilstein in the near future. Any reccomendations? Please don't tell me tein, cause ain't gonna afford it. The only problem with the bilstein is they are non adjustable and it's supposed to sit the same height as the normal shocks. I know koni adjustables are not really good as the really good ones where u can set rebound... but hey... it'll do for the occasional track. Oh yeah, it's for the r33. I realised a lot of r32's change them, not as much r33's

Did a search and came out with nothing conclusive. :D

im running d2 coilovers in an r33

cost me about 1.5k install by EVOR,

High and damper adjustable. i think im running 8kg and 6kg springs

Driving in them is abit bumpy, but u get uses to do it (even on soft its still bumpy).

Just went drifting on weekend on the track, and the coilovers holded up perfect, was very nice handleing etc

That's the thing, i know u can't get the best of both worlds unless u go active air sup... which costs a bomb, but i'm thinking a little comfort, and a little handling, someone in the grey area in the middle. coil overs are crazy man, they are rock hard, but i know they handle better. I ain't gonna track my car everyday... so yeah. Neo, the bilsteins u have are non adjustables right? If u get the wrong sping height for the shocks, they die pretty quick. So that's another issue. How much lower is ur car?

I recommend the Bilstein/Whiteline kit from Sydneykid. Why? Cos I got one.

They are height adjustable at the time of installation (just move the circlip), and your car does sit a fair bit lower than stock. If you want fulli sik low ride height then look elsewhere because your suspension won't have enough travel and it'll f**k the handling. You'll be driving on public road, and it's got bumps - no point if your car flings itself off into the scenery if you're committed to a corner and hit a bump.

Having had coilovers in the car I can say from experience that the Bilstein/Whiteline kit is a great compromise. And no I don't sell them.

Check out page 2 of the R34 thread, I wrote heaps in there about my experience plus there's a photo to prove your car won't look like a 4x4 at the standard height of the Bilsteins.

Cheers! :D

I'm not lookin for anything low man. I'm already having trouble with the lowering springs which is the legal height. I'm happy with my height, i just want something that's good for normal driving, and some spirited driving. I like bilsteins, they make good shocks, but i was under the impresson they were non adjustables. Not height settings, but the bound settings.

To be honest I think having rebound adjustment is not really that necessary for normal use. My HKS coilovers had that and I played around with it for a week then never touched it. :)

It's just my opinion and I'm not some experienced race driver or anything but a well-sorted suspension setup doesn't need it, and simply adjusting rebound damping won't make an earth-shattering improvement if it's set up right in the first place. Even on the OEM market there seem to be very few active or adjustable setups that do anything useful - once you've got the balance set up how you like it, that's it...

But if you want it there are some options around supposedly designed for local conditions but yeah, I don't think they're cheap... :)

Hope that helps! Cheers

    • Welp, too late already committed to the cam cover breathers to be welded on. I did think about adding a catch can in line with the drivers side sump breather as a phase 2 along with a drain to the sump on the original catch can but with an inline ball valve so I can have it closed if needed.    Likely a single breather would have been enough but I think I’m overcompensating to hopefully not have to empty my catch can and clean up oil over flow every session.    out of curiosity has anyone actually measured crank case pressure before and after various mods? I’m considering adding a sensor for science
    • Is it a dog or synchro box? I guess either way, if it is new and crunching in one gear only, it has to come out and go back to the shop to check/measure as there is either an assembly or manufacturing issue
    • These are small points I should actually add to my original post. GKtech makes an extended slave line for this conversion. It's what I use, and it works well. You'll also need a CD009 slave cylinder.  S/R Chassis Z33/Z34 Conversion braided clutch line As for transmission sensors, you'll need to both extend the wiring and replace the connectors. I can't recall which is which, but one is your neutral switch and the other the reverse switch. As they are just switches, just test for continuity with your transmission in neutral or reverse to figure out which is which. • I’ll try and see it could be the release bearing. As for the 4th gear grind maybe clutch doesn’t disengage properly cause it is slightly like very slightly hard to go into first could be due to the slab cylinder pin being short uni clutch is a twin plate.   Ive attached some assembly photos hopefully you can open the link and see maybe detect what’s wrong https://share.icloud.com/photos/0dc2YvW__Hl6jl-l2_0jejjpg https://share.icloud.com/photos/09e0jkWOK-vP48c1cfY6u3ViA https://share.icloud.com/photos/0b4rDmh5R7pK7fb1VtND73a3g https://share.icloud.com/photos/05eeUi_6dC4DVi80jOUYDgb0g https://share.icloud.com/photos/06335TgY1XxyIJal_wkdQLhzw
