Hey George - still no luck with selling the GTR eh? :D

Have you tried advertising on 'CarPoint' - $5 with pix until sold

Cheers,

Tim...

Its on carpoint at the moment..

its weird, heaps of enquires, even small deposits have been given and people just disappear....these people see the car, pay some money for seeing it, tell you they are buying it and then they vanish.

At the moment I'm not.....one thing thats stopping me is the market - my previous car was a performance car and the hassles I went through selling that has kinda scarred me with the test pilots etc :woot:

The second and prob more pressing is the enjoyment I get out of my car ;) That said I would feel better letting her go if I knew I was taking delivery of yours rather than sitting around trying to find the right car :P

If nothing happens then I'll prob start to advertize mid year kind of time, to try and sell before xmas.

There's lots of dreamers out there - they do the math on one of those internet calculators & think they can afford it & go see a sweet GTR, put their bank account on it as a deposit and then try to get a loan, just to be refused.

When I was looking I heard the same story over and over about people saying they wanted it but couldn't come through with the cash - I even had one guy (Paul? I think from Melbourne) who had contacted just about every GTR owner I spoke to that had one for sale & told each he wanted theirs! :

There are lots of GTR wannabie owners out there that just don't have $40+k to spend on a car & for the buyers that are cashed up, they have lots of other (performance) vehicles to choose from in that price range. Thou I don't know how anyone could go past a GTR for performance for the $$$'s

Just make sure if you do find a cash buyer (or one with finance confirmed), don't be put off by all the other 'joy-ride' wannabies, & take 'em for a test drive - as you have a sweet ride there & I would have been very happy with it. Compared to the others I had seen previously, it was gold.

    • You guys are amazingly knowledgeable and I appreciate it all so much. I’m currently at the local RB tuning shop, getting her inspected and diagnosed, for the t-case debacle and everything else. I’ll keep you guys posted!
    • Like @Dose Pipe Sutututu mentioned, 10W30 on a built motor would not be a great idea. As for the steel wool, we think alike as I went ahead and put SS wool into my catch can as per my above posts.
    • I am going to chime in here and say that is very bad advice for a built motor, making decent power of 400kW+ Especially if the rings have been gapped on the looser side. The more power you make the heavier you need your oil to be to be able to maintain that suspension between the moving parts, if not you'll have journals and bearings making love and grenade a motor. Remember that all moving parts inside the motor aren't ball bearing and are journal bearings and require oil to separate the surfaces from contacting.
    • Yeah I noticed this just now. No doubt she will be running smoother next start😂🤣😂
    • ENR34 manual transmission transfer cases are 33100-23U00 which is shared with all of the R32/R33 GT-Rs and GTS-4s. And the C34 Stagea. Do not bother with automatics, that is a huge effort to swap and the car will be worse for it. And an automatic transfer case does not have the right housing for the shifter which comes out the back of the transmission and goes through the transfer case. I already posted my response on reddit but if you didn't see it there here it is: You have almost certainly damaged the transfer case, the only question is how badly. Nobody can tell you how bad without more information. If you have a giant hole in the transfer case pissing out all the transfer case fluid then you need a new one. If it's not that bad then the only question is whether you burned up the clutches. Drain the transfer case oil and inspect for metal on the drain plug magnet. Small black filings are normal. Big chunks of metal or a ton of black fuzzies not so much. Fluid should be nice and red. Any other color isn't great. If the color is reasonably red and there's not a bunch of clutch material discoloring it or anything like that you probably got away with insubstantial excess wear not worth trying to fix. If you have to rebuild or replace the transfer case keep in mind you have to pull the transmission to get it off.
