S13 Silvia
I own a ca18de S13 Silvia. My mate is about to buy a sr20det powered 180sx. I'm considering putting a rb20det in my car. Will I be able to beat him? How would the race go? With mild mods on both engines, how would we fair? Also, how does the RB20DET fair against a 13B series 4 rx7 at stock boost? Guest air
The person with the most money would win. But if you want an advantage, go the RB. It has 2 more cylinders :-) so the power output is less stressful per component. And it revs like a m.f...... Sounds good too. SR sounds like a wet dog sometimes..... Boostzor
13 b kills both of them and wheighs less. try putting a 13b in a s13 hehe light drift mobile. I think the ca18s got the crappy brakes but as fars as i know they r the same as the sr20 powered s13 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/943-rb-vs-sr/#findComment-20117 Share on other sites
REDGTT
The RB configuration due to it being a six cylinder 2 litre has shorter strokes so off the factory its lacking in torque and yes less than the sr20det. The RB revs out very nicely though and isnt so weazy. The RB bottom end is probably stronger being cast iron. The SR has the potential to go 350-400hp stock but then again so does the RB. I personally would go with the RB because its just a better starting point. I do like the timing chain setup on the ser20det because it doesnt cost money to change it on the 100 k service. But end of the day its how much money you have and both motors are very reliable. Guest air
13b kills em but the seals go if you drive 'em hard. as with all rotary / wankel designs. and if you get even mild pinging..... cyal8r 13b. besides that 350hp+ out of a 13b can be considered pretty stressful (i mean its no v8!) but you'll be lighter... and a rebuild won't cost as much. but when all is said and done: if u want something that goes damned fast and lives 2-3 times longer than a 13b, go the sr or rb.
