Hey guys, my diff shat itself at the last drift day I went to... i'm now the proud owner of a pinion wheel tooth thats decided to detach itself and reside on the drain plug magnet.

My ceff isn't exactly stock at the rear end and Im not entirely sure what diff im looking for as a replacement.

where the tailshaft meets the diff is 4 stud and the two axles are 5 stud, they're not standard cefiro bits, and I found out today they're not GTR so I figure they're GTST stuff... now just to find a diff

Otherwise, All the clutch packs appear to be in good order anyone know whether is cheaper to replace the crown and pinion wheels and rebuild?

Cheers

Dave

Hey Dave,

how was the actual diff action before it went? if it was ok, and like you said the center seems to be in good nick, just get the ring and pinion replaced. Should be r200 diff by the sounds

Pretty good effort anyway, these diffs are tough!

I beleive the centre is still fine, because me being me on the way home from the drift day heard the noise and trying to narrow it down to tail shaft/axles/diff I was still lighting up the rears on command in dually style.

Wasn't till the noise got real bad a day later when I took it to a diff mechanic who said it was definatly the diff.

I pulled it out yesterday and Lo there was the pinion stuffed.

I called the diff mech and he told me that it would be cheaper just to buy a new diff rather than to buy new crown and pinion wheels.

So the hunt has begun and I have found out how much meatier GTR rear ends is- I could buy - R33 GTRcradle, diff, axles, control arms, hubs everything in one hit for a tidy price off a wreck that I saw today and im wondering If I could do the GTR rear cradle conversion... probably too many headaches attached to that. different lengths in axles and things not to mention the chassis probably being a completely different shape...

Okay I said it wasn't that clunky at first - just wait till the oil gets hot :)

She locks on the drop of a hat though so I like it!

My former 2way was just as bad when I first got it - she's just gotta be worn in a bit.

Cheers
