Hey all jsut did some upgrades to the car i got a sports organic clutch installed about 5 months ago afta my orignal one died.. when i had basically a stock car.. Now i have a car that should be pushing out around 300hp at the wheels and my clutch doesen't seem to b able to handle the power.. always gets stuck

I dont take it easy on my clutch either constantly doing fishs's into 2nd and 3rd and jsut driving it hard dont do burnouts but do do the occasinal launch of the line..

just wondering what clutch u would reccomend i was going 4 a button clutch but the mechanic told me it will most prob die as well so he says think about a twin plate one...

So any suggestions would be great thanks dont want to go for more money then i need 2

I'm running a OS Giken twin plate with OS lightened flywheel, great response from the clutch, bites really hard and goes hard. But it is not yer friendliest clutch in congestions....i reckon a Ogura single clutch is good for up to around 400hp. BT revolution imports the ORC clutches, you could check with them if you are interested. I heard Nick's clutches can customise clutches to individual needs too.

Ive tried a couple.. originally a OS Giken triple plate undampered which came with it which was way too harsh for street for me.. Then went to one of them extreme heavy duty 9puks which lasted next to no time and now a os giken dampered TS2BD twin plate which is perfect but only rated to 480hp

Dude, just go see Jim berry @ RaceClutch, he'll make whatever you want.

Spot on! My 3500lb carbon clutch is bitey as, but feels almost standard.

To get his number just google his name. If you get Italia spares, its the same place.

HKS Twin plate (carbon)..works a treat, easy to use and it wont slip! I have used it in conditions in excess or 400hp with no problems. Although if your a psyco and never want it to slip I have also got a HKS triple plate (circut) clutch that has been used in the car, dont even think of slipping it though..it doesnt happen!

A 4 button will not let go. Talk to the guys at Nicks Clutch Service in Archerfield.

A 4 puk with a 2800lbs pressure plate will handle over 400rwkw.

Sure twin plates are good but too much wear and tear on all of the other gear (pedals, hydraulics).

The same can be said for the button combo too but it's area of destruction is driveline. - Hookup is friggin unbelievable though.

    • Aren't these run off of high voltage in OEM applications? Like 200+V. Or at least 48V in mild hybrids. At ~18,000 BTU ballpark nominal capacity the power draw is at what, 2.2 kW? ~185A is a pretty crazy amount of amps. At 200V it's only 11A. The 70A nominal kits with up to 100A peak draw I see for stuff like classic Porsches have pretty substantial compromises like shutting off at idle and not actually managing to keep the interior cool in hot conditions because they can only output like 6000 BTU. IMO if I had to pick what high amp draw component to retrofit to these cars I would start with the engine fan, not the AC compressor. You need an ~850-1000W brushless fan, something like this: I would love to see the data but I would bet that whatever you save by running the AC compressor in a more efficient regime with an electric motor you're probably losing to conversion losses anyways. It's not really like a clutch fan where you're losing power all the time even when it's nominally disengaged and it gets worse as it engages because the envelope tracking isn't that precise.

    • I'm wondering is the Toyota and Mazda "collaboration" could see that new Toyota ???G20 ??? turbo engine that they have been showing off recently into a future MX5, apparently it's good for 400hp out of the box That could easily, possibly, be much better than the last collaboration between Toyota and Subaru with the boxer engine in the twins
