Weird Idiling Problems With R32

Hey guys,

On my r32 when i start it up, it revs up to 2grand then drops down to 1grand, it repeats this about ten times before it settles down and stays put on 1grand. But some times it will stay at 2 grand when i driving and it wont settle down. It used to rev at about 950RPM. The car is stock and it only has an aftermarket airfilter.

My mate who has a ceffy has the same problem.

Can anybody help?

it's your air-flow meter

my guess is you are using a HKS foam-style filter (power flow) or something similar.

If you have a friend, try swapping afm's to test it. I had this problem with the rev's going 1k-2k-1k-2k but only happened after driving for a bit. changing afm fixed it.

Clogged AAC valve, dirty throttle body and incorrectly set TPS will also have the same effects.

my moneys on the AFM i had same problem tho i had stock filter. later found out the 4 pins in the actual AFM werent connecting properly. 2 second fix for me.

Yeah im running a HKS air filter (foam style)

Why does the AFM bugger up with this filter?

Should i get a different filter so this doesnt happen again?
