I'm out...just read some of the threads re EPA issues etc and I'm not 100% convinced.  Didn't think this would be the situation. Apologies.

If you read magic's posts in the link i posted they clearly state the cat is CARB compliant so it does its job just as well as any other proper cat, i would not take the thread on saw too seriously as the person involved did not back up any of their claims.

Also the post on nissansilvia by magic clearly shows that a lot of what was said in the sau thread about epa approved lists etc. was a load of BS, as confirmed by the epa, you could ring them yourself to check.

even if you have a good cat it does not mean ur car will pass, as it has a lot to do with tuning as well so the cat becomes irrelevant a lot of the time.

Ill remove you from the list, but hopefully u will re think it.

I spoke to MAGIC performance, who offered to supply their 4' cats for $210 delivered if 10 are bought at once.

Group buy is for people who want to buy within two weeks from now, if there is no interest by then the group buy will close.

Retail value is $300

Fitting can be done at the MAGIC performance workshop for $90, so if you get it fitted there it will cost you $290 all up.

The workshop is in Brookvale, Sydney

Im sure you all know about the cats, if not, they are the best type you can buy, with coated stainless steel mesh inside.

Hey guys just wanted to add my 2cents worth, I purchased a full exhaust from mat at magic performance which includes one of these cats, I am extremely happy with the results. My 32 makes 142kw at the rear wheels with an air filter and one of magics exhaust systems. SO you can see thats about a 30 kw gain from your average stock gtst.

Also mat made me up a straight pipe to replace the cat when i go to the track and i hardly notice any difference(if any) when that is in instead of the cat so it must be flowing pretty good. The only thing you have to watch is if you go to the track without replacing the cat with a straight pipe you can overheat the cat, although this is the same with all metalic substraight cats like the catco.

Hope this helps

(edit) As Sydneykid below has said, bolt on would be a preference for me also.

I am in, I need another one. But this time I want it to come with the flanges and reducers (to 3") welded on so that I can just bolt it on the car myself. Can you please find out how much it will cost to make it bolt on ie; how much of the $90 is for fitting it to the car. It was a pain last time leaving the car at the exhaust shop for 2 days while they welded on the flanges. It cost me more in public transport costs and my lost time than the fitting cost.

:( cheers :D

That makes a lot of sense, it would be useful if they made a bolt on version. I will call them first thing tomorrow morning to find out, and either post up what they say or if they like magic can post up the answer themselves.

I am surprised you had to leave it for 2 days, surely if you booked it in you could have waited while they fitted it on the spot? Brookvale is a hike for me too.

The 2 days was a fair bit my fault, I dropped it off on my way to work on a Friday. I had to drop it off, keys under the door, before they opened to make it to work on time. Then I couldn't get to the exhaust shop after work in time before they closed. So I had to go back the next day, Saturday, to pick it up.

Stuff like that happens, that's why ready to fit DIY would be great, even if it costs $few more. it's not that hard, all of the Skylines/Stageas I have seen use the same length cat with the same flanges.

:) cheers :D

Hey guys, in relation to a bolt on version, if there are a few ordered, they can be done for $260 posted.

BUT for this to happen they need a skyline (or a standard cat) to come in for the angles and length to be copied off, , as they always custom fit theirs and do not have any off the shelf cats that fit skylines in their workshop.

I will not have time to go down and have my car copied until next week, so im not sure what to do about this. Maybe someone else involved in the group buy can go down?

They also said as long as the car is booked in they can fit the cats while you wait, in around one hour.

Anyone else that wants to throw in their 2 cents please remember the forum rules. This offer has been organised for YOUR benefit, if you dont like the product, or dont like the price, DO NOT POST.

If you have a problem, discuss it via pm with SiksII

I'm in for 2@ 260, still excellant value.

Cant see a problem getting the numbers up at that price.

Appologies, as I am unable help out with the template cat.

Cheers

I am keen for a magic Cat with the 3" flanges already made up. I am in no rush, so I can wait until you have time to copy one.

When it is copied, do you know if they will also weld on the oxy sensor fitting?

Hey mate that sounds good, it looks like we will end up getting bolt on ones since 4 people are interested. I think what we can do is, once everyone has paid i will go there and get mine fitted, and they can make a template from mine. But that will be next week sometime, as soon as everyone pays.

Magic says that if we get close to ten it will be enough, so i will speak to tem tomorrow morning and if the numbers we have now are ok i might start to collect payment early, so we all dont have to wait as long.

Hey, i have added you.

In regards to the hole you are talking about, it is a cat temperature sensor, all it does is trigger the light on the dash for the cat overheating light. As you have probably figured by now, it is useless and most people have probably never seen it light up. For this reason i have not asked them about that, but im sure that if you really want it they might be able to do it.

The o2 sensor is actually located in your front pipe, that is important and will not be affected.

Will let you know by Friday. (is that ok?)

Will also depend on install $$ for the cat a that dump pipe you showed me.

Sorry for being so vauge and "maybe" but got exams this week/next and also kinda broke.

For $260 I will take one ready to bolt onto a 3" dump pipe and 3" exhaust. I have a used compliance cat that I can send to Magic to copy if necessary. It has warped flanges front and rear as they were cut from too thin metal, but it will do the job as a master.

:D Cheers :(

I just spoke to MAGIC

The group buy will definetly go ahead even with the number of people we have now.

I need to know for sure from the people that want a bolt on version if they currently have 3inch exhausts.

I am sending payment information out now, via PM How fast we all get our cats depends on everyone's payments.

$260 for 4inch magic cat (bolt onto 3inch exhaust) delivered

$210 for just the 4inch cat(not bolt on)

The bolt on cats will be modelled off the cat that SydneyKid has kindly offered to send out to them.

R33 and R32 cats are tha same
