Buy the GTR cut Darrin and throw it in the Staj, you know you want to!

It is tempting, but I need to buy a Stagea first and do the 34GTR front conversion

Have the bonnet and headlights now, about to order the Masa guards next.

Porn, post up the pics when its done. I saw one in the flesh in Achiharbra, looked fantastic.

When I have all the parts and the car I will start a new thread with the progress

Will probably be around Febuary by the time a get a car from Japan. Need to sell my R33 which will be ready for sale in about 3 weeks. Blame the wife for the hold up!

Cheers chris,

I checked your one also while searching but it was a bit out of our price range.

Did you put in the new exhaust? What kind is it? Size etc...

Ive been trying to source some exhausts but they arent cheap.

Nah I didnt put my exhaust on, its coming like that from Japan :D Exhaust is a Fujitsubo Legalis R... at $1100 new they certainly arent the cheapest of exhausts :O

I believe Alex has a custom catback for sale.....If I didnt already have one, I would probably buy it :D

Cheers,

Chris

Infact, i just got a random message from someone on monday about my exhaust, he is sending me a money order in the post as we speak.

Look in my thread about the fujitsubo exhaust, its really a damn nice exhaust. Four of us on this forum have that exhaust terminal, me, chris and muck...

The Stagea arrived today :)

WOW! what a car. I was very impressed.

I get my license back on friday and Im keen as to go for a drive in it.

(Also hell keen to take my R33 for a spin) :)

Checked out Alex's exhaust thread, some good info and the sound files are also handy :D cheers.

Im curious as to where you guys got them from?

Did you buy localy or import them?

Was the $1100 price for the back pipe and muffler or the whole system including cat and front pipe?

Are the front pipe and cat the same as R33 GTST?

Sorry, more noob questions

My Fuji was airmail from japan from www.revzone.com.au (also my tuning shop)

Was $1100 with a short wait

My cat was $440 (R33 GTST) on top of that and my single split front/dump was $395 (R33 GTST) and required a little bit of modification to fit ($50 worth, probably design issue being split)

So my total exhaust spend was $1945 + the $240 I lost on my first custom catback.

Good luck with it

Nice buy, gR33ddy!

Mine's dark green as well. You might have leather (which I would have liked, along with the twin sunrooves), but mine's been converted to manual by the previous owner!!!

Are you in Sydney? If that's the case, then we have to get a group together soon for a meet-up.

Cheers,

Nick T.

Sweet. Another green one and in NSW :D

We got the Auto for the missus.

She can drive manual but prefers the simplicity of the auto ;)

Im actually located south of Batemans Bay so probably a bit too far for a cruise unfortunately.

I think the nearest stagea to us is in either canberra or nowra?? not 100% sure but?

Anyone know how many stageas there are in OZ?

There's a few of us in canberra now, it's getting more populous. i think there is one located at batemans bay too, but not sure.

i think there were 300 plates issued in 2004, another 300 in 2005

Meh, oh well. A fair hike, indeed, but I am hoping to come to Canberra shortly to visit some family... That's probably the closest I'll get for a while.

I finally got to drive the stagea and was very impressed with it.

Should feel even better with the suspension/handling upgrade.

I noticed a scraping sound from the right font wheel/rotor area while drivng.

The sound gets faster as I drive faster.

The pads are new and the Rotors have just been machined.

Any ideas?? :)

    • Would this not be the same for the exhaust you've posted up?  If your exhaust volume and emissions are fine, why does the brand of pipe matter?
    • The issue is more the fact that there is inspectors that deal with japanese cars a lot and they might know what a real Mines pipe looks like. And then they're gonna get antsy and not pass your car. But I'd have to talk to one of them about this, because you know as well as me that it's just a damn pipe and it effectively doesn't do anything. As I need to have my GT2860s and my exhaust setup (and the increase in HP) TÜV'd anyways maybe they can just correct the entry in the papers or assign a badge to the front pipe. I'm no expert either though, will inquire about this.     Thanks for the insight. Not sure if having a custom made pipe is good or not. Will find out in due time I suppose. Would be kind of funny if this was made in Germany though.
    • See this is a really tricky topic as technically the same rules apply to all cars but for cars but there is a difference. If you want to modify a car like the Skyline which never existed here you have a bit more freedom as they do not adhere to EU specs anyway. Any modification you do has to be in dividually checked anyway so as long as one of the inspectors think it's ok and within the TÜV ruleset you can get stuff like a top secret rear diffuser put in your papers. Which frankly would need a shitload of tests and certificates for EU spec cars, like a 2010 BMW M3 for example. But if you DO run these tests and all tests come out ok (safety stuff for the most part) there is no problem running such a part legally. It's just way too expensive to do for a single person on one car. The most touchy parts are emissions related mods, like an exhaust, turbos, air intakes. If it makes noise or alters the carbon emissions it's essentially illegal until you prove it's not. Meaning it doesn't exceed noise limits or have worse carbon emissions. I'd say for hoses if you replace them same same it doesn't matter what material they are or what brand you use. Same for nuts and bolts usually, they won't go and specifically check that your water hoses and some bolts are 100% OEM parts, that is nonsense.
    • What I don't understand here is that it mentions using a sealant. So either way you're ruining the inside of the tire and making a huge mess to clean up. Why not just do that, air it back up to spec, then take it all off and put it back in the car? Also, why not just include a plug kit that's not garbage?
    • What a f**king weener. I have worked in Gary, IN. At the time there were more gun deaths each night there than almost anywhere else in the world. Still not a reason to be afraid. 95% of people from your part of the world only have 3 teeth left from when you were addicted to meth, and now you're perpetually wrecked by Fentanyl. The only saving grace is that most of you didn't vote for Trumpler. Speaking of which, I'm off to the oval office right now. Got to relieve my bowels.
