Sydneykid
I must be reading these regs incorrectly; SPORT RWD – DYO - CLASS REGULATIONS Class Designations: SRWD followed by driver’s competition number. Sport Rear Wheel Drive is designed for full-bodied, street type cars using all wheel drive, rear wheel drive and street orientated tyres. Minimum Weights: 2 Rotor – 2300 pounds/ 1045kg 4 Cylinder RWD – 2300 pounds/ 1045kg 4 Cylinder AWD – 2400 pounds/ 1090kg 6 Cylinder RWD – 3100 pounds/ 1409kg 6 Cylinder AWD – 3200 pounds/ 1454kg Non-original OEM transmission permitted (e.g. Power glide in a Supra), but will be assigned a 150 pound penalty All weights include driver, verified after the run. This means my R32GTST that currently weighs 1180 kgs with roll cage (no lightweight panels, just no air con or rear seats etc) would have to carry ~100 kgs of lead to meet the minimum weight. Or am I reading it wrong? Then there is the problem of only 45kgs extra for AWD, a GTR transfer case, front tailshaft, diff etc weigh a heap more than 45kgs. How come they get a weight reduction from standard and the 2wd Skylines get a handicap? Or am I reading that wrong as well? cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/95048-wsid-drag-warz-sport-compact-meet-back-on-dec-17th/page/2/#findComment-1732199 Share on other sites

Beer Baron
1180 + 100 kg driver = 1280 which is ~100 kg short of the GTR driver inclusive weight. I think that was Garys point you cheeky sods! MrBlonde
That's the current rules. Cleverly designed to ensure that the SPORT RWD bracket creates fun viewing for the spectators with blistering 15 second passes! Seriously, the weight breaks must come down in the future. NXTIME
1280 is 174kgs less than the GTR weight of 1454 and 129kg short of the minimum weight for that vehicle in the class. Gary will have to find close to 130kgs to meet these minimum weights. Ironically, the rules say that you have to have the same front seats, but you can't take another passenger with you as ballast Kenny, not just the weight breaks, but the difference in the breaks doesn't seem fair to me. Eg: Rwd 6 cyl should be 200lbs less. Also, the non-oem penalty isn't that harsh. But Then again, the current rules actually favour my car. Swiper the Fox
The rules are only there for honest competitors to follow...as at Jamboree three out of the top 4 qualifiers (sportRWD) were running illegal cars and were still allowed to compete. Figure that one out! NXTIME
How were they illegal, Paul? The Jambo was a shambles when it came to rule interpretation. Swiper the Fox
How were they illegal, Paul? The Jambo was a shambles when it came to rule interpretation. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> two cars disobeyed/ignored or failed to read the rules in relation to seats. Another car had a side exiting open exhaust. Officials failed to act on all of these cases by letting these three compete in the elimination rounds. They had knowledge of all three breaches of the rule book. Sydneykid
Rule enforcement is a bit hard when the rules themselves are obviously STUPID. A standard R322GTST would have to carry ballast to make the minimum weight, that's REDICULOUS. While an R32GTR could loose 100+kgs and still pass the minimum. That's makes NO SENSE. Either the 2wd minimum weight limit is too high, or the 4wd weight limit is too low. The seat thing puzzles me almost as much. I have to change the driver's seat because of the TS/ET rules. But why the hell can't I run a standard passengers seat? I can understand them not wanting me to run a plastic/fantastic passenger seat, but not being able to run a STANDARD passengers seat is LUDICROUS. Who is the guy to talk to about this CRAP. Will he listen to logic? Or will it take 20 of us to show him the IDIOUSY of the regs as they stand at the moment. Cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/95048-wsid-drag-warz-sport-compact-meet-back-on-dec-17th/page/2/#findComment-1732929 Share on other sites

Cheers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I totally agree SK, the reason for the seat rule is they want to keep the class for "street cars" i.e. standard glass (no lexan) door trims, hood lining, all working controls (indicators, headlights etc). They did not want a class full of stripped out race cars dominating events. They should change the seat rule to standard equipment for passenger seat if they dont match. They could have saved me $1700 for a matching Bride bucket. The weight rules dont advantage R32 GTS-t's but they do favor cars like big powered supra's and Bu5ter's 33 if they run close to the minimum. If you cant make the minimum weight run the car in ET bracket (2rismo did this at Compak Attak) or add weight to the car. Lobby Jason O'halloran at ANDRA who is responsible for the catergory for the rules to be changed...i wish you luck. NXTIME
Good luck getting things changed. You will have to submit a formal rule change proposal and pay a fee to have the proposal heard. Oz Mod class is in a mess and no one seems to be able to fix it to a majority satisfaction. Sounds like a waste of time and money to me. Especially when it is only simple logic we are talking about. BTW does anyone have a soft copy of the full regs (PDF etc)? It pisses me off having to retype the printed version all the time. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/95048-wsid-drag-warz-sport-compact-meet-back-on-dec-17th/page/2/#findComment-1733075 Share on other sites
NXTIME
There is a lot that doesn't make sense, but hopefully it will all be ironed out. I wouldn't mind a copy of the regs in PDF also. Sydneykid
If you cant make the minimum weight run the car in ET bracket Shoot if I wanted to do that I would run the Stagea, being auto and 4wd it would run the same time all day to within a few hundredths of a second. We want spectators to come and watch the action, not be lulled to sleep by street cars with full interiors, hood liners, matching OEM seats, etc, etc. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/95048-wsid-drag-warz-sport-compact-meet-back-on-dec-17th/page/2/#findComment-1733324 Share on other sites
