mods are,

500hp walbro pump,malpassi 2-1 reg,gtr injectors

t3/t4 turbo with 4' inlet, k&n pod filter, 600*300*76 hybrid intercooler

3" turbo back exhaust

splitfire coil packs

wolf3d computer with wolf ebc

at just over 6500rpm the power just wanted to drop off, they said it would be the stock manifold being to restrictive. had to also gap the plugs to .6mm and he increased the dwell, said it would more than likely burn out the coils and it needs a cdi.

all i can add is that many people are pushing 190kw++ on the stock manifold and even on stock coilpacks letalone splitfires, at that level id highly doubt you need CDI

*edit* those dyno graphs are compleatly unreadable

My power peaks at 6,000rpm and I have a decent manifold. What type of dump are you using? As mentioned, the standard cams will not push much past 6.5k anyways so dont be fooled into spending up on a manifold.

Thats a lot of boost pressure to not even crack 200rwkw. I have a T3/T4 variant (there are many) with all supporting mods inc ecu and I make 190 at about 8-9psi and over 230rwkw with 16psi.

Either, the turbo is not what its meant to be, you have a restriction somewhere or the dyno is just reading low. You have decent support mods so I dare say its turbo and/or exhaust.

Can you give some more detailed specs and/or pics on the turbo?

i have to try and find out the turbo specs, the place that built if for me has closed, but i should be able to get a hold of them. from what they told me the rear housing (rb20) was machined out to fit a larger steel wheel, has a standard bearing(not bb) center and a to4e front, ar70. they also said it should flow 550hp at the flywheel and should be efficient between 20 and 30psi. the dump pipe was off the shelf from liverpool exhaust, 3", goes into a hi flow cat then just a cannon on the back with the silencer removed. they did say the dyno reads low but i was thinking thats what they all say when something rolls off with low numbers.

RB30-Power,

Roy's pulls very nicely past 6500rpm with his TD06-20G, nice big maifold stock cams.

run enough boost and big enough turbo, and it will help cover up the restriction.

i bet if roy got a set of cams on the same boost, his power will skyrocket.

Geez that seems low.

To get 190 i did the following with my RB20

Chipped ECU

Walbro fuel pump

RB25 turbo with VG30 exhaust housing

FMIC

FPR

and did it at 14 psi...

you should be making 220 with your mods. I think your turbo sounds like it may be the culprit. especially looking at the hard to read dyno graph.

It looks like lots of lag and then tyre frying and then nothing.

sorry about the graph, im starting to think the exhaust housing might not flow enough now, it did spin up 26psi without a problem, but only saw a 1kw gain for an extra 4psi, not right. would back cutting the exhaust wheel help it out? or is it a simple case of time for a new turbo, thanks.

a bit off topic but 190kw on 22PSI ! and then you turned it up to 26  :)

when would you ever want to run that much boost ?

on the dragstrip, but not when its only gonna give me 1kw more. we only turned up the boost to try and get an indication of where the problem lies. the car isnt a daily driver at the moment so im not real worried if it blows up now, but would like it to make better power more efficently.

I think you may have a very mismatched turbo.

The rb20 exhaust housing is pretty tiny and so will start to cause a bit of restiction at the top end. On the other hand the early r33 turbos run the same exhaust and highflow versions of those make more than 220kw at much less boost.

Then you have the T04E front wheel (Are you sure it isn't an S wheel) with what sounds like a T04s cover. These comps aren't particularly efficient at lower boost levels so you need to run higher boost to get the comp side of the turbo doing anything.

I think you may have found the magical combo of a comp that will outflow the engine combined with an exhaust that can't flow enough to get it spinning.

Before you do anything else (even swap exhaust housings) i would look at getting a T04E comp cover which have the more typical 2.5 inch inlet, 2 inch outlet and is about a .5A/R cover (i think). That should atleast get the thing doing what it should at much less boost, then get the exhaust side done.

If i was sure you had an S comp wheel which matched your cover i would recommend you get a VG exhaust housing and you would have a pretty nice turbo.

thanks for your feedback, im currently doing some more research about turbo sizing for the rb20. as i said before im having trouble contacting the guy who built my turbo as he closed shop. i will let another tuner have a look at it first as i dont think the numbers add up,

first tune-179kw, 270cc injectors, 76% duty cycle, 18.5psi

second tune-190kw, 440cc injectors, 84%duty cycle, 22psi

thats a lot more fuel for little result, maybe it is just choking up high. thanks.
