Hks Hypermax D's

Just bought some second hand HKS Hypermax D's.....Ride perfect...feel stiff but not too stiff...HOWEVER....My front Left seems to be knocking....more so when it reaches the TOP of its travel rather than the bottom.....You will be driving and especially over smallish bumps....u will hear it tapping against something whether its in the suspension or in the actual car im unsure of but was hoping soming on here would be of some assistance.....

Also....How do you adjust dampaning with these.....just the 19mm bold on the top or???? and its anti-clockwise is it not???

blown coilover, needs a rebuild. check out www.shockreco.com.au or give it back to the guy you bought it from.

usually damper is in the middle of top shaft, above bolt. You usually use a hex key to adjust and generally anti-clockwise = softer

How much do u think getting just one done would cost? And would u think that all of them could be in similar shape? Thats shit tho hey....

u can post them to that place, i sent a pair up from melbourne, cost about $20 postage each way.

You have to do them in pairs, cost is approx $150 per corner to do a base reco, just hope the shafts aren't damaged because that will cost more. The place in qld are highly recommended, they usually take about 4 days for a base reco + postage time. Call them to get a quote.

it may be a stuffed damper, but it may also be the pillowball tops.

i had these exact shocks, which made knocking noise just as you describe, it was not the shocks, it was just the alloy pillowball tops which wear out very quickly.

u can get them new for around $400 from what i have seen but i wouldnt bother as they will wear out quickly again.

clockwise is harder anti clockwise is softer, with a small hex key as merlinthehappypig has mentioned.

If it turns out to be the pillow ball, pm me as i have a pair of HKS pillow ball fronts that you could have for a lot less than 400.

Thet look like they are rebuildable by the way so if you can find replacement balls/carriers it will probably be cheaper again.
